This is the big change for me, We are in every game now. There are very few program that can say that. Back to being truely relavant is such a BIG statement! It's a perfect marriage.
Mario doesn't come without the change in infrastructure. Infrastructure doesn't change without Mario.
There isn't a human on the planet who loves this program more than him. Not one singular person. It's his literal entire life. And he's good at what he does. I said at every turn, just let the man cook. Does that end with a parade at some point? I don't know. We got real close a couple weeks ago. Hopefully we do again, and it ends differently. But we sucked *** for literal decades. Not a few weeks, not a bad year or two....decades.
And now we've won 23 football games in the past 2 years when FSU and UiF have won 19, combined, between the two of them.
He has flaws. Not many coaches don't. But the positives outweigh the negatives, by far. We've been in every single game we've played in the last 30 of them. When's the last time that could be said about this program? I've gotten the **** kicked out of me by UNC, Kansas State, OU, Notre Dame, FSU...if there's an FBS program out there, I probably watched them throw the U down and embarrass me in the last 20 years. That **** stops now. We're not gonna win every single game we play, but we're done being a ******* embarrassment.
Thank you, Mario.
Yea it’s really frustrating when I go on social media and see people saying that Miami’s trying to buy a championship and would have remained a dumpster fire had it not been for NIL, the portal, and the current environment in CFB. People saying this are just repeating current popular talking points and have no friggin clue about Mario and how relentless he is. I think Mario would have done just as well, if not better, in the old landscape at Miami than he’s doing currently.I have said for about 15 years prior to Mario's hire was all it took was the right hire and a good/great recruiter. Mario happens to be both. We all know the previous hires, minus CMR, were just done out of laziness and lack of concern for the program. People kept saying they wish Miami was back but I really don't think they understood what they were saying. Some or most of those very people saying that now have slow swelling hate because they know when Miami is rolling, so does CFP, because it must see TV.
Sounds like a bunch of SEC garbage. Those two things I highlighted, 90% or more of CFB teams follow this blueprint. Does anyone really think without NIL and the portal that IU sniffs even a BIG title game? Again, just a bunch of whiny SEC turds that can't pay under the table anymore(throw Clemson in there also) and dominate. A blind man can see this.Yea it’s really frustrating when I go on social media and see people saying that Miami’s trying to buy a championship and would have remained a dumpster fire had it not been for NIL, the portal, and the current environment in CFB. It's hilarious because they want to act as though we're doing somethnig against the rules.Yea it’s really frustrating when I go on social media and see people saying that Miami’s trying to buy a championship and would have remained a dumpster fire had it not been for NIL, the portal, and the current environment in CFB. I was angry at the SMU game - in part because the officiating was so poor. It was an odd game to rewatch as well; it was one of those games where almost everything you can think of went wrong, and if just one of those things were reversed Miami would have won. What gave me hope was that we were #18 coming out of the game, and with four games left to go there was a reasonable chance that we could get back into contention.I kinda checked out after the Louisville game, didn't have the energy or ***** to give anymore lol. But yeah cant blame you OP.
I'm back on the bandwagon though.
Louisville we were flatout outcoached and unprepared. Our approach to the SMU game was awful. It was what many were absolutely not wrong about. We were the better team. The mindset and approach needed to change. It did. We went on a run. It reappeared in the first half of the natty. Don't ever let it come back. Yeah, the criticism mid season was warranted in the period between Louisville and SMU. Even @Pentagon Cane criticized him and he’s been solidly with Mario.
The thing is that after the SMU debacle, which is the rare game I think refs changed an outcome but anyway, we went back to what had worked and we took off. The criticism of that low period was justified and the praise since is justified as well.
I’m a Miami Hurricanes fan first and foremost and I’m not loyal to one coach or player. Call the good and the bad as it is.
Really good post!!!It's a perfect marriage.

Coach to win. Play to win. Score points. Have some fun. Win. Repeat.
‘Slow swelling hate’ well saidI have said for about 15 years prior to Mario's hire was all it took was the right hire and a good/great recruiter. Mario happens to be both. The VT game was misleading. We dominated them but just got lazy and didn’t put the game away. You’re right that everything came together at Pitt.
AMAZING band btw.
Where we disagree is that when the approach is to control possessions it limits the margin of error and it is that margin of error that cost us that game. Our approach to SMU was fine. What was not was the fact that we had SEVEN offensive penalties in the first half, and dropped multiple passes. Which falls at the feet of coaching, as does everything else. But the penalties lost us that game, not any approach.
Agree, we put a complete game together against Pitt. The 3 before that the team started to coalesce thru overcoming injuries by guys stepping up and timely plays on offense and defense when called upon. Pitt jump started the train and we ran thru to the NC game. What a run, which helped sustain us with a good portal haul. But, maybe overlooked, what it did for our HS recruiting in 2026, and flips in 2027.People had a little bit of a wrong POV about what happened post SMU as well
We looked like absolute *** against Syracuse the next week but our defense got a huge turnover right before half time
It was 0-0 most of the first half
The NCST game we started to click but then had an odd game against VT. Though we were down Scott and Thomas in that one
Anyway. We didn’t really put it all together until Pitt imo
Dawson told us what to expect when he said “I’m as good as my QB”Yes, they are...
We will find out next season, but I also hope to be wrong about my post that Dawson is Cheeks. He certainly now has a quarterback to really work with again.
