If we wanna go all the way back to Fox/Winston yeah we recruited good prospects first and then added in some projects

Mario has had a ton of OL flake out and transfer as well he’s not immune to finding duds but he had the starters in place first

The Fox/Winston thing is like the “Ed Reed was a 2 star!” Like yeah it can happen but…

I think Mensah using the RPO will also help the Oline, along with more quick passes early in the season.
I would run something similar to what Ole Miss does with Chambliss. Bain and Mesidor never sacked him because the ball was typically out quickly. Then as the season progresses and the line has gelled you start to use more 5 and 7 step drops.

My favorite OL. All ACC, maybe Rimington contention. Not even joking. Healthy, smart, talented, experienced & hungry. Love that he never transferred. He will kill it.

Mensah won’t run like Chambliss did but I could see us being similar to Ole Miss last year (some similar personnel actually)

They had 6 WRs that averaged more yards per catch than our best WR average (guys that actually played, not random roster fillers that had big catches against nobodies)

Let that marinate a bit

Or course Mali is top dog and did more work underneath last year but the explosive plays are going to be back this year and it should be a show

At one point Miami had 5 dudes who were pretty much centers or short guards playing in the line. It was pathetic

I agree but 80% of that line had a ton of reps in college.

Look again Cohen and Lee were the only vets. Rivers was a sophomore and Cooper was also a sophomore, both were second team the year prior. CiCi was a TF.

This is why Mario and miribal get a pass on any supposed project they bring in, they know what they’re looking for and will develop guys.not everyone’s going to hit but let them take the chance.

For whatever reason, fans are apprehensive about Rodriguez and McCoy, who are the lone seniors in that unit.

Rodriguez metrorailed people as the 6th OL whenever he was in the game last season.

Samson was a 5 star who needed some development and dealt with a significant injury year 1. He was one of the best guards in the country by the end of year 3. Cantwell might be the best OL prospect ever from HS.

That aside, guys like Ervin and Congdon would have been day 1 no doubt starters 5 years ago and probably the best OL on the team. Wilkerson would have been a clear starter at that point, too. He’s battling to be 9th or 10th in the room now.

It’s a totally different level now. When a year two Max Buchanan is in a battle to start, the room is elite. They will figure out who plays where but there will be a great player at every position in every game.

This is why I think it'll take all of two drives for everyone to realize how stupid this debate has been about the O line.

Have to stay healthy. Few positions are thin. I feel good about OL (depth wise). RR will be a leader in that room!
