I Rewatched the App State game

Good god people. It wasn't a loss to J'vill State. It was a bad win against a halfway decent team. App State is a bowl team this year. Should we have beaten them by double digits? Sure. Is Manny mediocre? Sure. App state is a Duke or a G'Tech
Good God how far our expectations have fallen. Should we not demand that we be better than Duke? BTW, they lost the game more than we won it. If they didn't drop two wide open passes at the end, we'd have lost to a school nobody's heard of by 1. In reality, it feels about the same.

This. We didnt even win. They just lost. Take away that safety and maybe one drop from a WR or bad throws from the QB and we lose. If it wouldve been an away game we'd probably have lost by a couple TDs as their fans would actually show up and play us like its their super bowl.

Take away our dropped passes and a kick off return and we win by 2 touchdowns. OP is acting like a mediocre performance is somehow shocking.

App St. is ranked #29 in Espn's FPI. Are they a good team? No, neither are we. We've been what we've been. And anyone who thinks App St. is still an FCS team hasn't been paying attention to college football in 5 five years.

You really can't do this. I don't disagree with what you're saying, but "if they didn't drop two wide open passes"...correct. But if we didn't drop 4 passes? Neither team was great for 60 minutes. It looked like a college football game between two average programs.

You are absolutely right. However, too many here will only point out the "what ifs" that go against our Canes, not the other way around........

2star WR running past a bunch of 3,4,5star kids on the kick return: -7
Ivey letting the man run free for TD: -7 to -4
Reed getting bullied for a kick block: +3
Harley and Mallory dropping 4 passes: +3
Penalties: +3 - +7

I'd say our single biggest issue is the time of possession, especially on the D side. Way too many missed tackles or opportunities to get off the field and give the offense another chance.

Gaynor gave up two sacks by disengaging a defender when he could have remained engaged and helped out. Donaldson gave up a sack by remaining engaged with the DT while the DE ran past him on the stunt to the inside in his zone. Justice gave up a sack by getting bull-rushed forcing King to step up into a DT that just beat Gaynor and Donaldson because they thought the other was going to block him. Overall, I'm not seeing an OL that wants to bully DL but instead a very passive OL that will only block someone if they have to. This leads to King getting happy feet vs letting the WRs get open even if they aren't open within the first 2.5 seconds.

We know the last 2 weeks we've been average at best, but it is kind of funny that when we don't make plays, we stink, but when the other team doesn't, we're lucky.

Regardless, gotta be MUCH better if we're going to have a successful season and play for a conference championship. But people gotta realize you can't play the "what if" game in college football only for one team. This isn't the NFL, **** near every team besides Bama leaves a lot of plays out on the field every week.
