I need help/honest opinion on this one.

It's December and Miami is making another championship run. I know Miami has the Coleman kid and are in play for a few good QB prospects. However if there is stud QB in the portal, does Mario sit on his hands or does he give it one more go? Listen, maybe some of you have heard it because I haven't that Mario will start using the QB's on the roster, but I just can't see if there is a stud QB on the portal that Mario looks the other way.

Stupid thread? Perhaps, but hey, it's the offseason!!

What are you asking? About 2027? Way too early to speculate.
 
Its not a question, EVERY year there is a QB in portal.. I know they want to develop in house but we will see when it comes time.. The allure of a proven QB with our talent acquisition at all other spots is very hard to pass up I could imagine..

But the proof of concept and results that portal QBs has now trickled down to high school recruiting where we can now be seen as a destination school for the ELITE top QB arms.. There are levels and competing from top kids to the level we have been recruiting in kiddie pool of recruits seems to be different. But still have to take dollars allocated into account for unproven vs. proven.

While you’re not wrong then it will come to a point that no high end HS QB will waste his time coming here…

At some point, we’ll need to go “all gas, no brakes” on offense do we can let some backups get done burn to know what we have.

Don't be surprised if more top-end HS quarterbacks end up at lower level schools for the opportunity to play year 1 and then move on.

On the other hand, if a big time program pays them more just to ride the pine, I'm betting they take the coinage.
 
You cant afford to miss a year banking on undeveloped or unproven talent. I don’t think many coaches that can avoid it will take that risk.

We have Coleman but if another Cam Ward is in the portal you go get him and let anyone transfer that wants to transfer. Because at the end of the day we are not at practice and we do not see them in pads playing actual games in practice. HS film although great and cool QB drills on YT shorts are great cause they are designed to look great, dont mean anything when you get to college. Give me the Cam Wards.

Coleman looks amazing arm talent wise but that doesn't mean anything, throwing with anticipation is the most key thing and you cant see that till they are actually on the field. Do they have to see guys open to throw? (bad trait)
But anticipating a guy open and throwing him open is the best quality to have along with a good offensive staff which we have.

Give me the proven guy every **** time. If the staff goes portal I trust that they have seen what they need to see in practice against top tier competition.

depends who's in the portal and how they stack up.

ideally you take BPA every year if you can afford it. if Coleman gets PT this year cause Mensah got injured for a few games as an example, and he looks really good, then that can change things. But you cross the bridge when it comes.

Mensah still has 2 years remaining, the assumption is he is here for one year, but you never know. Dante Moore just came back after he'd probably be a top 5 pick
