I'm in. Let's roll with Diaz with full-throated support until such a time comes that we shouldn't. At least, that's my position.

Look, despite these coaching positions getting paid king's ransoms, the reality is - at UM, it shouldn't be this hard. It shouldn't.

It's like the Lord of the Rings ring where people get the ring and then all logic goes out the window.

Manny is talking about doing the things for the whole team that he's already doing on D: maximize the local speed and aggression, constantly be learning and improving, hold everyone accountable. These aren't revolutionary concepts, but for the last almost 2 decades, this hasn't been followed.

For the record, like last time, I still wanted Butch. However, unlike when we hired Richt and I was like, "Oh...OK...I guess...let's focus on the positives and forget all the reasons why I never wanted him to be our HC." I don't feel that way about Manny. Not that anyone cares two ****es about my opinion, but my top 3 were:
1. Butch
2. Babers
3. Leach

It's a HUGE risk by the school!!! But....if he can make good on his promise for the O, keep up the D and apply his overall approach to the entire team, I am hopeful.

Im completely on board with this hire except for one thing. How did Miami not even try and interview anyone else? Why not wait 5-7 days? You know Manny would have still been there. He clearly wants to be at Miami, but just wanted to try and be a head coach. You don't think he would have still accepted the job 5 days later? I guess I am way more confused to why they didnt try and interview Cristobal (assuming he would have even taken the call), Babers, Leach, etc. Again, a hire I can get on board with, just not sure why the same day.

Same as the last four, or did you root against any day 2?

Manny is talking about doing the things
Right. We've had 16 years of "talk". Unless he hires a better DC than he was and a much better OC , much better position coaches and assistants, has much better recruiting, much better player development, etc, etc, etc. then we will continue to be blown out by any decent team like LSU, mediocre teams like Wisc, etc.
So we don't need any more talk, we need actions and results.

I know it's the hurt speaking right now, but unless he has a time machine, he can't jump forward and prove all of this. He has, however, already performed as our DC for 3 years, so his talk also has some walk to it.

The alternative is just stop following the team. You DO want them to succeed under Manny, right? You are going to be rooting for them, right? To root for them is not some betrayal of Butch or whoever else you wanted in there. Manny is the guy now and let's get behind him with eyes wide open. When he does something smart, let's praise him. If he starts ******** up, I'm sure you'll be the 1st to call him out, which is fine.

It's a new day and let's hope for the best.

Did you copy and paste this from ever hire, Coker on down?

Dude relax. If manny gets someone to install an offense suited to the talent, he’ll be fine. At least we know what the D will look like, and it’ll look good enough.

The decision has been made, Manny Diaz is the new HC. You can complain if you chose. Bear in mind it will not have an impact other make you feel good about yourself and feel bad at the same time. I would have preferred a true search, and my guy was Matt Campbell. Oh well.

Let’s wait an see who Manny hires and what changes he makes on his staff. How this recruiting cycle ends. How Spring ball plays out.
