Frank Gore still irked he didn't rush for 1,000 yards in 2015

Indianapolis Colts running back Frank Gore said Tuesday that he's still not happy about failing to record the ninth 1,000-yard rushing season of his career. Gore, who signed with the Colts last season after spending the first 10 years of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, finished with 967 yards rushing last season.

"I'm not over it," Gore said. "I'm not going to be over it until I do it. I've been blessed that they kept me to get the opportunity to do it again. To go after my goals again, to be the one to get the 100 yards that they didn't have in years. To get that 1,000-plus yards [in a season]."

For years, the lack of a rushing game has been a sore subject for the Colts, who haven't had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2007. They also have gone 50 straight games without a 100-yard rusher, the longest streak since the Cincinnati Bengals went 67 straight games without one from 1992-97, according to ESPN Stats & Info.

Indianapolis has only had one 100-yard rusher, Vick Ballard, since selecting quarterback Andrew Luck in 2012. Gore rushed for more than 90 yards in a game just once last season.

"Now I got another opportunity to do it so from here on out," Gore said. "I just have to start taking care of my body, eating healthy, start training to get myself ready to try to go get it.

I'll be shocked if he makes the final roster. Those tires are balder than a 3 year old's beaver.

Colts have no other RB plus he put up almost a thousand last year...I doubt he'll be great or anything, but he'll most likely be the Colts starting RB for the year.

They'll plug in a new guy between now and the start of the season. He might not be on the roster now, but the replacement will come. That's how the NFL works. They won't carry an old soap horse with a big contract.

A look back at this UM great RB.

I feel ya. I could see that happening, the Colts just don't seem to worried about it.

I agree that's how the NFL usually works, but I think they would have done it by now. Also, they didn't even draft a RB. If anything they will keep Gore because he is arguably the best RB at picking up blitzes. And like other posters have already mentioned, he had a decent season last year.

I still think he would've gone down as the goat had he not torn both ACL's.

With that said I hope he has enough in the tank to get a 1000.

Why do people keep saying what he would have been? Even with his injuries he has 9 1000 yards seasons already.... He's has been great in the league. I must acknowledge he might have been considered the best running back ever if not for his injuries. He was THAT Talented

You just answered your own question.

I think he has a good chance of being inducted into the HOF. May not be first ballot but he can make it. Him and Edge. McGahee and Portis were on their way but I think the injuries took them out too early.

I don't see Frank as a HOF player. He never truly dominated even at his peak. Had a great career though.

As much as I like Gore( and think he'll get consideration) IMO, Edgerrin James had better years during his prime and put up some great numbers himself
