I liked that benching

I didnt like it because the guy behind him wasnt an upgrade, he got us there let it burn with him there. Im not a Malik guy but that was a bad move by MR Im pretty sure he knows it as well

I don’t know about that bro..

Even Malik said after the game that it was a reality check for him. He mentioned that it’s got to the point where he was just going through the motions and the benching was a wake up call that he needs to be dialed in at all times or else he’ll get benched.

Looks like Richt is trying to make the most of this season due to that decision and doesn’t want Malik to take this moment lightly because this will most likely be the last year of Malik starting.

Richt could have easily cost us more than 2 games this season, his decisions are very questionable still have not gotten over the onside kick in the GT game.

He should have benched rosier early in the 3rd quarter. I think berrios just got a good return with good field position then he put Evan out there. I didn't agree with that live or die with your guy.

"WHY DIDN'T RICHT BENCH ROSIER AND GIVE SHIRREFFS A SHOT?!?!?"

There would be 50 million posts on here with that title tonight if he never pulled Rosier and Miami lost by 10.

Don't tell me it's not true.

It's not true...and if some idiot did post something like that I would have been sending them to **** the same way I'm sending anyone who defends the move right now.

It was asinine. It was stupid. It was horribly timed. It accomplished nothing positive. It cost us a crucial drive in a game where we had the ball at midfield down by only 10 with more than 11 minutes left on the clock.

Anyone arguing any of these points is a ******* moron, plain and simple. The game of football is a funny game.....when a game is close like this there are plenty of examples of a QB playing like **** for 3+ quarters and pulling it together to scrounge up a crucial drive or two and eek out a win. That's football. It happens. Even more so in the present game where parity is spreading like wild fire.

******* RETARDED MOVE. I'll say it til the day I die just like I lost my **** when Shannon called that timeout in the final minute of the bowl game against Cal. Pure moment of insanity.

Richt was emotional and pulled him. Can't be doing that.

Exactly. Knee jerk reaction that cost us a drive. Made Pitt players say......Yay! Not only we stuffed their starting QB but also his replacement.

The equivalent would be like when Brian Kelly goes bananas on his QBs on the sideline. Its just Richt isn't a buffoon in public. Gave him the "son, I am disappointed" and sat him down...nevertheless, it was some sloppy emotional decision making just as bad as Brian Kelly acting like an ape on the sideline.

I’ve never seen more wide open easy throws missed in my life. A good QB & we win by 30+.

Didnt see/hear any of the posrgame. Any of the jack Miami beat reporters ask about it or did they fluff him. Got some ‘splainin’ to do, pullin a guy that got you there for a guy that has thrown 5 passes all year. I wan to know at least his public reason for the hook.

The receivers were open and the routes were there, Rosier just wasn’t seeing them or he was over throwing them. I don’t like the pulling, but he should of manned up on him on the sidelines. Like someone said in a earlier post, he got you all the way here and now you pull him? I think that may fvck up his confidence next week.

Why? Some people here think he is beyond questioning.

The problem with that move is that Shireffs is no better. He shouldn’t even be on this team, let alone thrust into the game with our undefeated season and playoff hopes on the line.

Crazy that the bench player is not better

Yeah, not only better but will come from behind in the 4th QR on the road in hostile envirnmenont in his first game. Yeah it's crazy.

There was barely anyone there LOL at it being hostile

If I removed "hostile environment" from my sentence would that change the gist of what I was saying?

Yeah the guy on the bench is not an upgrade unbelievable

Wait Evan is an upgrade? I know there not puttin Kosi in so i dont include him as a guy thats backing up Malik

Malik has played way above most of our expectations for most of the season. For that, we should all be thankful because but for a few big plays we could easily be 7-4 right now. Anyone who has been paying close attention to our offense has to have noticed that it has not been in sync for a full game this entire season. I can't remember the last game where we marched down the field on our first possession and stuck it in the end zone sending a clear message to our opponent and establishing a clear rhythm and expectation on offense.

On the other hand, I can count multiple games where in the very first drive Rosier has taken a costly sack that made converting on 3rd down unlikely. My guess is that for a majority of our game this season, we've gone three and out on the first possession. I can't imagine that Coach Richt and the staff have not been over this again and again because it is a glaring issue.

To the comment at hand, I understand why some Canes would say coach should not have taken him out when he did, but coaches have the benefit of looking players in their eyes and sensing where their head is. Richt knows our backups - their strengths and limitations - so taking Rosier out was an honest attempt to try to get a spark.
It didn't work. What Coach has learned from this gambit is that it's Rosier or bust.

Often this season, I have felt Rosier has started the game like he's scared to make a mistake, but once we are behind the eight ball he throws caution to the wind and performs at the level we need him to perform. Well, in a manner of speaking our back is again against the wall, let's hope he comes out swinging against the Tigers.

If he was an upgrade he would not be sitting on the bench.

We weren’t winning that game

Richt sent Rosier a message there

I was so torn about that move when it happened. I agreed with the apparent reasoning, but disagreed with the timing. It needed to be done; I just wish it had been done earlier.

As many people have said, Rosier was missing BUBBLE SCREENS by 5+ yards. He's never an incredible passer, but today was next-level terrible. He was very off...he needed to be snapped back to reality. Just wish it had been done in the third quarter after some of those failed drives.

I do agree though - Richt sent Rosier a message: No one's job is safe.

And to the team, “we have lost this game.” See, until then this team still thought they would win, but I guess Mark is more accustomed to losing at least one game each year.

Immediately after this happened, I told my son Richt raised the white flag. Yeah, sending a message to your QB even if it means surrendering the game while there is still over 10 minutes left. Great move.

Pretty clearly said that I thought the move was poorly timed. But why read a post and make a relevant comment when you can just be sarcastic about it instead?
