Winning helps a lot
Why is our NET so low? I know the losses to Dayton and UCF really suck, but Bama and FSU aren’t bad losers. Are those two unusually low in NET rankings as well? I can’t get my head around that.RPI is 38 after the win over VPI. NET is 66. Ken Pom is 62.
That Kenpom model refuses to move us up. It still has VT nearly 20 spots higher than us.RPI is 38 after the win over VPI. NET is 66. Ken Pom is 62.
That’s bc they have us as one of the luckiest teams in the country. And that win last night won't help that. That Kenpom model refuses to move us up. It still has VT nearly 20 spots higher than us.
I think a lot of it is dependent on margin of victory. That’s bc they have us as one of the luckiest teams in the country. And that win last night won't help that.
Would love to see what metrics go into that.
That’s interesting, because VT’s margin of victory last night was -3.I think a lot of it is dependent on margin of victory.
Dayton is rarely ever bad. Usually in the NCAAT and has a rich hoops legacy, including a couple Final Fours (IIRC) and a number of NIT Championships, back when that Tourney was tough. I don't count that as a bad loss. Why is our NET so low? I know the losses to Dayton and UCF really suck, but Bama and FSU aren’t bad losers. Are those two unusually low in NET rankings as well? Then, they should take in "margin of loss" as well, as in our two losses by one point to FSU.I think a lot of it is dependent on margin of victory.
I agree. I'm honestly struggling to understand why the model thinks we've been so lucky. Then, they should take in "margin of loss" as well, as in our two losses by one point to FSU.
That's why I called all of our remaining games "toss ups." Not just us, but I'd say more often than is normal, we're seeing ACC games decided on the last possession or two.I agree. I'm honestly struggling to understand why the model thinks we've been so lucky.
