I hate to admit.

The last 4 coaches ranked IMO:
1- Richt
2- Shannon
3- Diaz
4- Fredo

I never had any hope with Al Golden as coach to beat a good team.
This is a perfect summary of the last 20 years, fans debating over which coaRch was actually the worst.

This team has looked like a squad full of mercenaries since I've been a fan. Bunch of Hollywood divas. That works when you have a lot of NFL talent but we don't have that.

I'm not on the "fire Manny" train. This team can still win the Coastal.
You think this Diaz-led team is beating @Pitt, @UVA, @UNC? LoL

It's crazy to say, but of the last 5 failed coaches here.....he's the only one that MIGHT have worked out if he didn't tie his own umbilical cord to D'Onfrio. His inability to separate friendship from career was his own undoing.
Hard to argue with that though Richt the same argument could be made

his refusal to give up play calling was brutal but hard to argue his results especially with Malik Rosier as his QB

The only thing Manny has done better than Al is to beat fsu consistently. But the truth is that Manny would've gotten crushed by those fsu teams as well, something we are going to witness when Manny gets crushed by 40+ vs tamu next year.

Richt was washed up and had a foot out the door. I don't want to bag on the man given his medical condition but the fact our administration thought, at the time, it was a good idea to hire an over-the-hill head coach who was run out of town by Georgia fans says it all. I was mad the day the Richt hiring was announced because I knew exactly how it would play out. It was his last foot in the door before retirement.

With that said....great human being. He didn't hold us hostage on his buyout, which most coaches would have done. I wish him nothing but the best.

Can’t believe you and I are having a discussion over who ****ed us least between Richt and Golden

Sad times my man

Richt took over a mess, got us an IPF and the greatest home win in maybe 20 years; then he exited gracefully, leaving money on the table, so Miami wouldn’t be handcuffed in replacing him. That was our last window of opportunity. Blake welded that ****** shut.
Yep. Blake had an opportunity to get this thing right. He had the time and most importantly, the money, to piggyback off of Richt’s tenure to get this thing right. Instead, he chose the cheaper easier route by hiring Manny away from Temple. Manny is a great story, but he was just not ready to lead this type of program.

He still suxx! Nobody took more double digit *** whuppins than Folden.

Of course he sucked, the results spoke for themselves.

What some of us were simply saying is that in the world full of blind people, he was the one dude with operable cataracts. Doesn't matter now, he's done what every other fired ex Miami coach does.....not be able to land another division 1 HC job.

yep. Richt did more for this school than Alf, corker, shantard, and ***** miaz combined.

Both right, had some decent offenses but his best man flubbing defense for years was his downfall.

Al's flaws weren't just limited to keeping coach D.

That man would throw his Mother under the bus on Mother's Day.

He was a shameless self promoter, thin skinned and thoroughly bull headed despite the bad consequences just to name a few

A championship program has to start with a commitment from the athletic director and the admin to support developing
and financing a winning football program ....

nothing happens without that . end of story.
I agree! The Barry Jackson report from last Sunday from the anonymous BOT member is all you need to know about the current state of football for the University of Football. Us, the fans, care infinitely more and always will. The culture within the admin of UM will stay Hospitals>Football likely in perpetuity.

Only way that's the same argument is if you consider his SON his friend... The only insistence he had to give up play calling was from you all on here. Not gonna get into the argument of how hamstringed he was by easily the worst offensive line here in God knows how long. But when it was all said and done HE was willing to give up play calling. He even interviewed several options for oc. But when the board insisted lil johnny had to go he fell on that sword... As much as I love this program I'm not gonna blame a man for not firing his own son. My issue was why did he ever have a job at all.

if you think golden was better than Richt then i'm not sure you're paying enough attention

Guess you forgot Wefense.
You don't understand what fundamentals means. Fundamentals and schematics or not the same thing. Diaz defense when he came in worked because Golden coached the players fundamentals. That means their personal skills and their understanding of what to do. No D was asking them to do things that were schematically flawed.
