I guess UGA could have won a bunch of ships

The SEC during Richt’s 1st 3 seasons is NOT what the SEC is now.

Comparing the numbers is a lazy way out.

It’s like exactly the same except Tennessee was way better and saban was at LSU.

The point is not that Richt is good, or that he’s better than Kirby (he’s not even close). It’s that Andrew’s beloved bulldogs aren’t a championship program.

That issue predates Blake. Don't forget the extensions Coker and Shannon also received.

One day many years from now Coker, Shannon, Golden, and Richt are all going to get together for brunch and share a **** of a laugh.

Serious question....why are we so eager to give extension before they are necessary?
We have become the kings of the premature or unnecessary extension.

When Miami hired Richt posters said that UGA didn't have the talent and Richt would win here. As it turns out, Smart is winning at UGA and Richt is doing worse here. The actual answer was the opposite. Richt had the talent to win ships at UGA but corched his way to 9 and 10 win seasons.

I mean who the F said GA didn't have the talent? No one said that. He had the best avg recruiting class in football of any active coach not named Saban. They said Miami talent was the best in the world. Right I FN hate him but lets be real we have the worst offensive line in the coastal and 2 complete **** QBs and a coach who refuses to game plan around that.

Incompetence and self inflicted wounds.

NO ONE in the country is better at these two things than the University of Miami athletic department.

Unfortunately you are absolutely right.
The inferiority complex in our administration is what killed us in the end. They are lazy and love to be abused.

All the Richt vitriol is understandable but let's not act like both guys inherited the same things.

Richt left the cupboard full in Athens talent-wise—right down a No. 6 class in 2016 of players he recruited. Smart walked into a dream situation ... and he also got his *** kicked by a sub par Georgia team last year, 40-17 as well as this year's 36-16 collapse against LSU that will keep them out of the title hunt this year.

Went 8-5 his first season in Athens, too—so doesn't much look like Smart can "win the big one", either—also proven by his epic fail, national title game collapse against Alabama.

Richt took over a Golden-led team and program that was 60-47 dating back to 2006 (up to Al's firing). Night and day situations for both men.

Richt has dug himself a deep hole year three—but let's stop the with revisionist history.

Anyone who thought he was going to do better here than what he had been doing the last several years at UGA was a MORON who doesnt understand **** about football or UM.

I pray to god this Mark Richt experiment finally puts to bed this absurd idea that its easy to win at Miami. Its not, its a dead program that needs an incredible elite coach to rebuild it.

Not surprisingly you missed the point...

When Maimi hired Richt the board felt that if Richt could win 9 and 10 games a year at UGA that it would translate to championships at Miami. Their thought was that Richt would not be able to get the talent at UGA that he could at Miami.

As it turns it, once Richt left UGA they started to perform better and once Richt got to Maimi he started to perform worse. This suggests that UGA had / has much better talent than Miami and they won 9 and 10 games a season despite Richt and not because of him.

Amazing that he didn't win a ship with all that QB talent he corched all those years.

Back to the point. The guy coached for 15 years that had more money for staff, facilities, and in the SEC. And he failed to do that. However, I can't find the logic that he would up and win a championship at Miami with less resources and in a mediocre conference.

The theory was that he’d get even better talent at Miami.

In retrospect that sounds real stupid.

I think theres a little truth to both arguments.

Richt corched UGA into underachievement a few seasons but the UGA admin has given Kirby a lot more tool$ and leeway to do things his way.

Keep in mind that its still too early to tell. Kirby had a great year with Marks players. Seasons 4 & 5 will be the tell with Kirby.

Richt has access to better skill players here but the admin is even poorer than UGA in re$ource$

Let the record reflect that those that were "high" on the Mark Richt hire when it was first announced were predominately :

-The Don Bailey Jr slurper crowd. He represents exactly the type of hire they **** over.
- The casual fans (who have a little of the above mentioned traits)
- The media (who are absolutely clueless when it comes to UM football)

MANY of us hated the hire and knew that what is happening now was coming down the pipeline. All the signs were there.

I don’t give a **** about Richt and Smarts records if you don’t beat Pitt Duke BC and Virginia you don’t deserve to be here

Lol. You are so dull it’s funny to watch.

It sounded real stupid three years ago when he was hired and some of us lost our minds.

Without a bag game, we’ll always be at a disadvantage in our own back yard. But I don’t think it was stupid to think he’d be able to crank out recruiting up.

Ah well, I guess I’m just an optimist.

There are two ways to recruit well:

1) you pay more than the other program
2) you win a ton and put kids in the NFL

At Miami, option number 1 is gone bc of NCAA trouble.

So you needed a coach who was an elite football man who could win big quickly. Mark Richt was never that guy.

Maybe we finally learn our lesson.
