I felt rather weird during the game....

In the past I was comfortable with who the players were since I followed recruiting and development of our team. All of a sudden there is a bunch of strangers in Hurricane uniforms. It felt like I was rooting for a team I knew little about. I did know the obvious players but just felt different and strange. There are other Hurricane sports that I don't follow closely but anytime I see the Orange and Green with a U I root for the Canes so that part was natural. It will get better as the season progresses and I get familiar, Sunday night though I had a roster I printed and tried to match numbers with names. One of the OBB's mentioned it felt strange to him too!

Josh Pate mentions this all the time. The transfer portal era jas created a disconnect that fans grow through recruiting, and early years of development. We would know of a player for 3-4 years before they really hit the field.

Now, they jusy come and go in an instant with the portal.

I know what you mean though, OP. I found a recruiting in team pretty closely, but didn’t recognize a bunch of dudes and had to check the roster often.

I guess this new era just means guys have to make plays for me to learn them.
 
It's different for sure, especially if you follow the local players. I do believe the better we get the less we rely on the portal.
 
At least we got new guys that dont act out on the field and get 15 yard killer penalties. Been watching that for years. Kudos to getting the right guys.
