"CLEVELAND -- Former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar believes he has been removed as a TV commentator for Cleveland's preseason games because of slurred speech he attributes to concussions sustained in the NFL.

The Browns announced Wednesday that Kosar is being replaced by Solomon Wilcots. The team says it is exploring other media roles for Kosar, who remains one of the Browns' most popular players.

Kosar says in a statement his removal "stems from my slurred speech impairment, which is a direct result of the many concussions I received while playing in the NFL."

Kosar calls the situation "unfortunate" and says doing the preseason games is "truly one of the remaining joys in my life.""

I always feel bad for this guy. Why can't we employ him at the school as some "token" position?

As a Browns fan, my opinion is they're removing him from the broadcast booth because they're afraid of what he might say. I doubt him slurring words has anything to do with this.

it wasn't how he said what he did, but WHAT HE SAID. fwiw I like him too. He proved himself to be a liability AGAIN. :(

Remember Mike Gottfried? Similar thing. He had a stroke that affected his speech. Boom, gone from ESPN. Him and the best commentator and voice, Ron Franklin, to ever call ESPN Hurricane games are working small time college football radio. **** I miss Ron Franklin.

As far as Bernie, If UM doesn't offer a job, hopefully a good friend from his football past can find him something.

and just to light a bigger fire… maybe his daughter doing **** isn't good for PR?
So, lets be fair to his employer. He is a famous drunk, says the wrong things on air about NFL players and has a daughter doing ****. He is a Cane and I want him to be successful, but… I'd fire him also. FWIW I wouldn't have hired him in the first place.

Sounds like Bernie Kosar ran into a situation similar to what we have here at CIS.

Some people just can't deal with reality especially when it get's pointed out to them publicly.

UM needs to bring him on board. Give the guy something to do. I'm sure he can serve as an asset to the University somehow.
