I Changed My Mind About Cristobal

Here is all you need to know about Mario. UM offered him a job, he accepted. He then said I was only kidding and accepted a job with Alabama 6 weeks later. We needed the MF'er for local recruiting but his previous ties to the U didn't matter to him even though we were the ONLY one offering him a job at the time. Now he did get screwed by the AD at FIU (Pete Garcia) who had an over sized ego but the U offered a rescue for him personally based on his past ties to the U. He chose Alabama over family. I may be old school but that never felt right to me. I would pass on him for that alone.

In his defense, he chose Nick Saban over Al Golden. If you wanted another crack at a HC gig, who would you choose? Part of me thinks he got here, saw Golden corch for 6 weeks & took the first offer than got him the **** out of dodge. Don't even blame him. No thanks on being our HC though... Judas. Lol

Al's mother would choose Saban over Golden

Exactly. If you're an aspiring coach and you have a choice to work under Al Golden or Nick Saban, you take Saban immediately - even if it was a lateral move, which it wasn't.

Anyone who says otherwise is either a dumbass or full of ****.

So in the same token, who of note would come here to work for him?

He had a couple successful years at FIU cause he worked in a talent laden area and picked up the athletes that the big 3 rejected... still plenty talented against his competition

Bama brought him in cause they assumed he had inroads and was an "elite" recruiter as some like to refer to him. Who has he brought in? Shannon has done a better job against us. He's no different than Clint Hurtt, another "so called" elite recruiter $$$$$.

To be proficient at any position, you need to be doing it "day in and day out". He hasn't been a head coach in years and never at this level. The lack of practice also worries me about Butch but unlike Cristobal, he would attract plenty of quality assistant coaches

Cristobal is "hot garbage"

I didn't say he would be my top choice but the guy isn't this horrible coach y'all make him out to be.

Usc and texas who has more money to burn had to settle for fifth and sixth ooptions.

The thing is nobody knows what another coach will do. Everybody clowned uf for hiring mcelwain and dude looks like a pretty **** good coach.

Cristobal is "hot garbage"

Cristobal won national recruiter of the year for bama. He took ridley and burgess-becker when they were about to commit to miami.

He is about to flip armon richards and he isn't recruiting vs miami often because he is getting elite recruits that are not coming here.

Go look at top prospects in the state of florida next year that are looking at bama cristobal is the main recruiter.

So you think those guys would have signed with Miami while being recruited by Bama had Cristobal honored his commitment? That would qualify as "elite recruiter".

Doesn't change the fact that if you hire an experiment as your HC, everyone under him will be double the experiment

Bolivia. The only good thing about this thread is that it will serve as a central repository of all the reasons Cristobal would be a horrible hire. Bookmarked.

What the **** is wrong with yall. I said if you miss on your top 3 or 4 guys then give cristobal a look.

Look dude is assistant head coach at bama so he has been working directly with saban the last 3 years learning how he does things.

Being there he would know how important it is to have a great staff around you but he also learned it from butch.

I would rather have cristobal as my 5th option than somebody else who doesn't understand or embrace the program history.

Yeahhhh, good ol' Luigi thought the move would equal a crack at another head corching job, eh? So how's that working out? Seems to me that we're the only list his name ever appears on. What's that tell you?

I wholeheartedly agree, he turned his back on us when we where the only ones to offer him a position. He can stay at Bama.

Enough with this idiotic "he coached under Saban!!!1111" rationalization for hiring Mario. Joe Paterno had more wins than any coach in CFB history. Golden coached under him. How did that work out?

Let's just bring back Butch. We still should have some of the banners we flew when he was coached Miami. Banner flying is now a tradition at Miami.

The problem is that nothing that UM has done administratively in the past 10 years convinces anyone that this is not a real possibility

If Mario was good he would have moved up in rank on Saban's staff. He is a position coach. We can't hire a position coach to run our team.

As excited as I am about the Golden era coming to an end, I'm prepared to be thoroughly disappointed by the coaching search. I have little doubt that we are going to end up with Mario or someone equally uninspiring.

All of this.
