I am guessing we wont hear anything this week now.

Not following the panic timeline logic here. The last time there was a quick major decision that landed us Manny Diaz. Blake's gone. What's the fear? If the search lasts a minute they'll give up and name Strawley permanent AD? I'm just not following the logic.

Nothing to say at this point.

Only way Diaz was gone in-season was if he lost to NC State and Pittsburgh and Miami fell to 2-6 on the year. Once he won three in a row, it was a end-of-season firing, at best.

James being gone two days after the Florida State loss was a power move to get ahead of the AD search.

In a dream scenario, Diaz is fired Sunday morning after the Canes go to 7-5 and beat Duke—and there's a Monday morning announcement that Tom Jurich is the new athletic director.

Should that happen, things will start falling into place quick enough.

Pac-12 title game is Saturday December 3rd—which Oregon is in, unless Oregon State upsets them this weekend. If Mario is the guy, would assume things fall into place early December as the Ducks are 100% out of the Playoffs race with two losses. Could still win conference and go to a good bowl, but that's not enough to keep Cristobal in the mix there—it was Playoffs-or-bust just like Diaz was in a Coastal-or-bust scenario.

Godforbid Jurich gets on board and Highsmith is brought in—can't see any way Cristobal turns that down to stay in Eugene, as the natives there are already restless and frustrated he hasn't won it all yet.

Well you sure said a lot.

They are still deciding. Plus it is a long trip to Miami for a Greyhound bus.

The Bobs was how I described what Industrial Engineering is when I was studying and shortly after graduating from Miami

There isn't any reason not to announce it if a decision has been made. The lack of announcement makes me less confident in what many of the typical insiders are saying. I hope I am wrong.
In the past, things have happened quickly and results were lacking. If it takes a few more days and drifts into next week, so be it. It's more important to hire the right AD and make the decisions that follow. Nothing will happen until an AD is announced.

They may know who they want and perhaps have reached a preliminary agreement with them. Now they're just doing a little due diligence to make sure there is no hidden baggage somewhere.

If he turns us down - **** him…

The concern is that this was supposedly already decided with only a BOT vote required. This shouldn't take days so I expect some sort of disagreement on the BOT. I don't have first hand sources but I expect they are probably looking at alternative candidates to replace James.

Or they are doing a background check with the search firm they have hired. Which has been mentioned.

They tried to set up a press conference, but Susan, Gary, and Barry couldn't make it, so UM moved it to after the holiday...

Again, it’s all in the optics. Blake was just canned last Monday. It’s kinda like getting a divorce and start dating your ex’s sister the next day. Or, a coach retires and another is hired in 12 hours. Plus there’s a holiday this week.

I don’t see it as bad thing that the powers that be are taking their time. Could be any number of things being worked out. That said, it hopefully won’t drag on too much longer because there are several other HC openings and recruiting is a major consideration.
