I am concerned!

Besides my serious concern about a no name ST coach (Danny Kalter), why is Cam Ward highly ranked and considered our best option? If you look at 2023 QB ratings for 2023 TVD was 32nd and Cam 50th (Mertz was 36th). If you look at the stats for his games at Washington State they are mediocre at best. I looked at his game stats from 2023 and their 5-7 record and he appears to slack off in the second half scoring-wise. I want to believe the off season hype train but I'm still in the station waiting for it to pull out and show us something. Before players started bailing and we went to the portal for depth I liked our recruits and our QB room. Now that Cam is the probable starter my confidence is shot based on his stat sheet. Can anyone explain how the 50th rated QB from 2023 is suddenly a prime candidate to make our season great? Do our coaches have the balls to start someone over Cam?
We have the tools, do we have the right conductor for the Hurricane train of 2024?
I like it better when you post from your OriginalCane account.

This post has once again made me re-think my whole philosophy towards Canes football. What a tremendous perspective to broach with the community! Look out, the GOAT is posting!

Should have consulted with you prior to placing my Cam Ward heisman bet, but serves me right for not consulting the great and powerful fraggle first.

Don't know if I'd go so far as to call him a turnover machine. His TD to INT numbers the last two years (his only two in D1) were 23/9 & 25/7. Fumble numbers aren't great, but it's easy to have a lot of fumbles when you're a pass heavy team playing behind an bad OL...which no doubt affected his interception numbers too.

There's a considerable possibility we see a big improvement from him this year. I actually don't think he's a terrible bet to win the Heisman (20/1...8th out of all players). Look at the weapons he's got at WR & TE. I think Dawson lets it rip like he wanted and tried to do last year.
He had the most fumbles lost of anyone in the country. It’s his biggest problem. But again he’s never had a functioning O line. So is it all on him? Doubtful.

Okay, I'll bite.

Let's take the worst game that Washington State had last year. It was a 6-44 loss to UCLA.

Cam's stats?

Team rushing stats?

The offense could not do anything. Ward had two turnovers - an interception and a fumble. Washington State's offense also had a second interception, this one thrown in the first quarter by John Mateer.

That's your absolute low point for Ward for a significantly less talented team.

Sigh! I guess consensus is that Cam will take us to glory, I hope you all are right, been waiting 20 years for OUR team to be great again and been optimistic all 20 including 2024! I wonder if we'd be different if Emory had not broken his arm?
I love the kids heart, but if you are hoping for Emery to be anything more than a poor mans Chad Pennington you are mistaken.

I have been convinced for some time Fraggle is not real but a board creation as a lightning rod. This post confirms it.

To be honest only our bubble in the Miami media is giving Cam all the love. Everytime I see an ESPN list about potential NFLers, or predicted breakout, ect Cam is left off.

Honestly if Cam can be a version of TVD that can read drop 8 coverage we should be good.

Do people not take into account the team Ward played for? On paper they had less total talent than FAU…. Yes that FAU.

Meanwhile the Pac12 was by far the strongest it’s been last season in 10+ years.

So kid had the least amount of talent in conference around him, no running game… yet still managed to finish top 50 in America efficiency wise? Seems like only 7-10 other QBs in America could’ve done that

Your post is full of inconsistencies.

Players bailed and we backfilled with the portal? Most of the departed knew or suspected they had no role. The portal was an upgrade source for us.

You liked our qb room and then somehow looked at Cam's stat sheet and that shot your confidence? So you'd start someone over Cam? That's just nuts.

Your train jargon is kinda funny though, so that's something.
