I’m ok With Jarren Starting...

Jarren limits his own offense and N'Kosi is a coin flip away from throwing a bad INT.

Truly an enviable position we're in.

Agreed. At the same time, 70% completion rate and 0 interceptions in 4 GAMES before that one quarter of ineptitude.

Does the guy need to throw the ball down field more? Yes. I'm just saying let the kid develop a bit before closing it down on him. The Canes did it last year to Perry and it ended up being a clusterf@#*.

If Perry was so lights out, he would have been the clear winner of the job from the get go. Give Jarren a short leash though.

There's been several ints that JW has thrown that were straight dropped though, not to mention the insane luck we've had with recovering our own fumbles.

I think he's light years better than what we've had as of late, and I am a big fan of seeing passes actually get completed, but I think part of his accuracy can be attributed to the way he/Enos scheme and play. We don't take risks in favor of the short passes, even in cases where we are 3rd and forever, we always go for these short dump offs that have no chance of getting the yards we need. Defenses know this and let us take what we can and stop us. Notice what happens in the redzone when all they need to defend are short passes? We don't score.
 
I didn't like Manny putting down N'Kosi to justify Jarren by saying N'Kosi played uneven. This game could have easilly turned into a Clemson 59-0 game and an empty stadium. N'kosi rallied the troops, energized the fans, and gave the team a chance to win. It was very clear that the team played with a different energy with N'kosi. Diaz should have just said N'kosi played well and gave us a chance to win.

I have no issue with Jarren starting against Virginia. The question is what happens if Jarren struggles. I'm not even talking about picks. It is clear that the ACC has the book on Jarren. Defenses are going to press our wide receivers and take away the short to intermediate passing game. They are going to dare Jarren to beat them deep. Jarren had played well in the 1st few games, but now that teams have film on him, they are going to take away what he does best and force him to his weakness. Until he proves he can stretch the field, this is what's going to happen.

The problem is our season is hanging by a thread. Lose to Virginia and the season is over. The team will implode struggling to win 6 games and kiss the recruiting class good bye. There is so much riding on this game. I don't know how long you ride with Jarren. Jarren has to get out of his comfort zone. He has to push the ball down the field. Scared money makes no money!!!!!!

one game. And I guess you forgot how JW distributes the ball? And the UNC game? 9 different players in one game. Perry was sacked 5-6 times the other day. He has the same vulnerability as JW. Both have their positives but you cannot present one side of the info.

Fans are obsessed with Perry throwing downfield to Jeff Thomas.

I dont know how you look Brev , JT4, Harley in the face and say that? Perry orchestrated the come back, made the offense tick and even opened up the running game a bit. If not for a kicker and a porous D, he pulls off a Brock Berlin-esque comeback. Perry has to be the starter, or youre just playing favorites.

true. and it was once. Plenty of QBs have bad days. The kid deserves the chance to come back and see what he can do. He's done nothing to lose the other games.

You are going to have a divided locker room very soon if we lose on Friday. I get that Manny wants to stick to 1 QB, but you have to ask yourself: who gives us the best chance to win on Friday? The coach can tell us who it is, but the team has to believe it and they already know without the coach saying a thing. The coach can't change that. If Jarren struggles, you will see deflated players on the field because they don't believe the coach is giving them the best chance to win.

Just from a confidence perspective, how does Jarren go into the Virginia game feeling confident. He can't go on social media, the internet, or your local restaurant without people talking about a QB controversy whether it exists with the head coach or not. Manny can say there's no QB controversy and Jarren's our guy, but he can't stop how the fans and players react. Therefore, you do have a QB controversy. Jarren's got to be feeling a lot of pressure this week to play well. If we get down early and haven't put up any points, how long do you ride with Jarren?

This is a definitive moment in his young career. Will he play loose and let his balls hang or will he be tight and afraid to make a mistake? It doesn't matter what he does in practice this week. He has to show out in the game.

I like both but if one gives us an edge to win more games I'm going with Perry the offense seems to flow better. It's the coaches duty to make sure the QB is coached up looks like both are making same mistakes so that is another head scratcher. Lets be honest 2- 3 at the University of Miami is not good enough as a starting QB. He has enough time to showcase his strengths. You do realize we are at game 6! This dump and short pass thing he is on is not good thing and it doesn't flow evenly. The opposing defenses notice (Bud Foster Quote) they are stacking the box with press man coverage's . I'm for this BRAND and Winning and not any personal favorites. I'm sorry case closed.

I agree with what you said. There's something that everyone needs to understand. After 4, now 5 games, the ACC has the book on Jarren. You saw it with Central Michigan and now VT. Teams are taking away his short and intermediate throws. They are cheating up and challenging the WRs daring Jarren to beat the them deep. That's what VT did and Jarren threw a pick on his deep ball. There is no check down because teams don't respect his deep game. He's going to have to stretch the field and that's outside of his comfort zone.

You had Jarren giving interviews two weeks ago (CMU week) that he had been working on his deep ball. So, everyone knows it's been an issue. Everyone blamed the offensive line that they weren't given Jarren enough time to go deep (which is partially true), but N'kosi played with the same offensive line that did give up sacks when he was in the game, but he still pushed the ball down the field. The plays are there to be made.

Doesn't matter who starts, we don't have enough talent on this team to beat VT we're in trouble..
