Some times it looks like Homer just runs into traffic bc he can't bounce it outside if nothing is there but Walton was great at doing that.

Walton's propensity to bounce it outside is actually a good characterization of his mediocre vision. That's not to say that he didn't often make incredible plays happen by doing so. It just resulted in a lot more boom or bust productivity

Well considering Homer is much faster than Walton I'm not sure how you came up with this.

Walton is easily more elusive. Walton had the ability to make a three yard run break for much bigger. Problem was Walton could also dance around and take a loss when a three yard run was on the table. Homer takes what the defense gives him. Homers big runs haven't come with any special moves they were made by blocking and he took it. That's great. If a four yard run is there Homer will get four yards. That's a great characteristic in a running back.
