I’m glad we got Mensah instead of Leavitt

Top 1-2 throw of the game. Absolute perfection. Top 5 NFL QB throw.

I was grading the OL and had to watch that play 4 times. Mansah is so **** accurate.

Cam Ward is on a different arm talent level than the guys I mentioned. He doesn’t have to cerebrally beat you because he can just rocket the ball in a tiny window. Mensah doesn’t have that cannon so he throws it out ahead of his receiver and lets them run under it. They’re both great, they’re both special talents. It’s just in my opinion, Mensah impresses me more because he’s not a world class athlete but still finds a way to put the ball where he wants it. I don’t like comparing the 2 because they’re both Canes legends, clearly. Cam put us back on the map, and Mensah is gonna win us a national championship. Both guys deserve a ton of credit for what Miami has returned to being.

They have some similarities in the fact that every time they drop back, they feel in control of the entire situation. Cam is more of a risk taker and he’s got the arm to do it. I gotta rewatch but Mensah made a few really nasty throws from different arm angles that made me raise my eyebrows

The different arm angles is something that also gives me Burrow vibes. He even throws sidearm off one foot like Burrow does sometimes. It’s almost like Mensah patterns his game after him.

It’s okay to admit that Leavitt is a perfect system fit for a Kiffin offense.

With all of that said, Leavitt would have been a headache here. I’m glad we decided to go a different direction.

Have been splitting between games but what I saw he looks like he is running Kiffin's offense properly but it doesn't look like Leavitt is being forced to do a lot of tight window big time throw type stuff.

LSU might be the #1 contender in the SEC though.

Maybe. Remains to be seen because we don’t really know what Clemson is. After La Tech, they play ole Miss and A&M. That will tell how big of a contender they are.

I mean, I understand your preference of a passing only QB, but you cant just ignore the fact he has 113 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. That dual threat ability makes it very hard on a defense to defend.

He has 3 tds and nearly 300 total yards with 8 minutes left in the third against Clemson. They have 38 points.

If thats not balling, then im sensing a bias against the player. He is very polarizing and a lot of ppl hate his attitude, so i know that shades ppl opinion.

I wanted Mensah when he left Tulane. That was before Beck had hit the portal. I thought he had unreal potential but Jesus has he improved. Leavitt is a nice college qb that uses his wheels well but DM is in another universe as a passer , conductor of an offense and smarts. Also a much better leader and likable teammate.

Mensah is like watching a pro qb operating in a college world. Pre snap , post snap he always has control and decisive. On top of that his anticipation and touch is as good as it gets. Then there’s accuracy , three incompletions while pushing the ball downfield all game had me in aww. He makes every throw and can layer the ball if needed but has the touch to lead away from defenders.

With the issues we expect with a new ol he makes up for it with how fast he processes. He saved the OL multiple times with his quick decision making. So I’ll take my Qb every day of the week and twice on Sundays. And I mean Sundays as in him being a pro over Leavitt.

His legs make up for his lack quick decision making and processing. Which is fine in college. He has some Johnny Football to his game.

A lot of dual threat QBs are not "accurate passers" and they dont have to be to be successful college QBs. I think you simplified just "take away his running ability". Easier said than done.

Soo hard to even take anything from last night game.. But his legs are soo much of a weapon and he has run crazy and turns games into back yard games in playoff against elite cop like texas.. Plus Kiffin offense is extremely QB friendly and will scheme layups for him.. Will be an interesting watch all season because he still sprays the ball and is erratic, will be interesting to see Kiffin work around it.

He was , it was Becks year. For some reason I always think Mensah was at Duke two years. I just remeber he was one of or the first qb to hit the portal and I wanted him. Some people here said there’d be better guys and to wait. I was all in on him pre Duke.
