It's just an observation that Longstreet is not the type of player we have pursued as a QB under Mario. Longstreet has thrown a total of 15 passes against Missouri State and Georgia Southern. He does seem to be promising, but spending significant money on unproven QBs out of HS or in the portal is not a risk Mario seems inclined to take. Maybe there is or will be no other choice, but it seems like Mario would be more apt to try to pull someone into the portal that fits what he is looking for.

I don't think you have to spend significant money and he would be my choice right now.

Exactly, even lane didn’t realize what he had on the bench.

Which is why you have to get someone with more tape and not just give him the keys based on high school rankings.

Unless the kid has played, you have no idea what you have. The patriots had Brady on the bench and people say that’s the best coach ever. Warren moon was bagging groceries. Josh Allen sent his high school tape to a bunch of coaches who still didn’t recruit him.
The stories are endless.

Longstreet may be a hall of famer for all I know.

But if you were the head coach with everything that’s on the line and the money you would have to pay him, are you gonna pull that trigger? He wants to start.

Right now if he’s not gonna a get more money and still be a back up he might as well stay where he’s.

Unless we're somehow pulling a miracle and getting Mateer/Simpson, you have to bring this kid in for $1-2M and let him compete for the job. So unless he wants some insane number for a kid whose never played before, idk how you dont make the call

Kiffin had no **** choice but to offer every **** QB in the portal. LSU had no scholarship QB or for the fact of the matter no walk-on QB either. You have no ideal who this staff has been after or talking to. This staff walks in the shadows and every year guys come crying up in this b^tch with soaked panties early on and the staff smashes these simps with players that you guys have no clue were even talking to.
 
This would be my target and then being that I’m probably saving money and I would load up on Defense. Give Wilson an offer he couldn’t turn down, add another DT like Enow Etta that’s a bigger body, call Koi and offer what he wants, bring in a veteran center, and see if I can bring in a veteran TE. Try to bullet proof the team around him so we can survive early mistakes young QBs make and remove as much pressure as possible.

Also, LSU certainly promised him a massive NIL budget. He’s playing with monopoly money right now.
 
Do we know if this kid can play? Same people saying bring him in be crying if we lose games through growing pains. They have to have some more targets. G5 or even FCS has to have some QBs who lit it up this year. I wanted the Boi from North Texas.

But knowing our staff they prolly said F it, we gonna force Ty Simpson to say no 6 or 7 times like they did with Cam.

Who are we talking to?

Kiffin brought in Longstreet as a backup plan for Leavitt. That’s a well known fact, and a smart plan.

It’s okay to acknowledge that another coach did something good. It’s okay, take a deep breath. Stop acting emotional. And the fact that you’re stroking yourself to your ghey post is making me LOL.

Regulate yourself. Recruiting ain’t for the weak.

Not a fan of getting unproven QBs from the portal to start, even 5*. I can get behind our strategy of hitting the portal every season at QB, but give me guys with P4 experience, not just potential.

As for the discussion about whether our system attracts QBs or not: plenty of air raid QBs get lost in the wash every year. If you show good mechanics, footwork, and a decent arm, you’re going to get noticed in a system like ours
