Husan Longstreet 4* QB from CA Hits the Portal

I think we need to bring another QB to compete. Longstreet is more talented than any other QB that we have on the roster. Why not bring him in.
I think this Offense has had 1 year of production attractive to a high level toolsy Qb. Outside of the single year with Cam if your watching the playoffs as a Qb and the Offense in general is this the team you want to come to? We are a run 1st team with a very unexplosive O centered around inside run game and short passing. You arent going to air it out with lots of attempts or get the explosive deep passing with yards and td passes to get your numbers.

So do you think we don’t need a good QB or are you saying that top QBs don’t want to come here because of our style of play.

I think Dawson has shown he will create the offense to fit the skillsets of our QBs.

Style of play isn't going to make good passers want to come here. You can get any qb to hand the ball off throw screens and short passes all game. Eventually its going to affect wrs too. We already struggle keeping the top wrs in state for many reasons. Ground and pound football doesnt attract any thing but oline and big rbs.

So are you saying Beck was never capable of throwing down field?
Not as good as Cam was, Beck plays a cleaner game with his quick passing while Cam has incredible arm talent and bought us time when needed. Even the formations used for both QBs were different. We can probably go back with TVD and Emory see what they were working with too.

So it prepares you for the NFL?

Beck actually did throw down field quite a few times a game. I mean we're not an air it out team, but our style sucks defenders up and presents down field throws.

Numbers get you noticed. You cant dink and dunk and just be part of a winning team and expect to be drafted highly. Production is vital. We are one of the least explosive offenses in the playoffs and in the ACC as far as deep passing and plays of 40 and beyond.

Not going to make this a trash on Carson thread or post because I love Carson but I can also be honest in the assessment that his downfield throws leave a lot to be desired.

My eyes see it with his lack of arm strength and accuracy on the deep throws and the statistics don’t lie.

Thankfully, he's been hitting the in-breakers really well now lol

That is his best throw. Pretty much anything inside of 15 yards in the air, he’s fine for the most part. The placement of the ball even then could use improvement but he’s above average.

The long throws - not sure if it’s the elbow repair or the way it’s always been, highly inaccurate and often short as the receiver has to slow down/wait for the ball.

Go the 5 star route. Let them battle it out in Camp and any sign of struggle during the season, let the next man play and hopefully we find something in one of the 3.

Be ready to roll 2027. This idea is more stomach able if we win #6.

His arm went down a bit since the elbow, but he also has improved strength wise since the start of the season. But his deep throws tend to sail and the tip of the ball arcs really sharp, meaning he throws it more up and not through.

Longstreet is way better than Beau Pribula. Ty is going pro. Longstreet has minimum of 2 years before he can pro. He could solve QB for a long time for us

We should be all over this guy at the moment with LSU and TENN playing tug o war for Leavitt. Alas, there's no evidence we are interested.

He does not fit the mold Mario seems to follow of experienced, battle-tested QBs with proven production.
