Husan Longstreet 4* QB from CA Hits the Portal

If we go get him, he's going to be the starting QB here.

It will also likely blowup the QB room. Emory may have stayed to back up Leavitt/Simpson, but would he do the same if we signed a QB who is just 2 years removed from HS? We could see Nickel/Coleman hop in the portal after the natty or pull a Lucas over the summer.

I'm 100% in favor of getting Longstreet, but there will be consequences to the future of the QB room that would have been less likely had the QB been Leavitt/Simpson. Also the depth in the room behind him may be nonexistent (perhaps go get ****ey along with him as emergencey option?)

I can live with all of those consequences. We need the talent.

Can't promise a guy with 15 career pass attempts QB1. He's going to have to earn it.

I get the feeling the staff doesn't think Longstreet is better than Dereon. If they felt better about Longstreet than what they have I think they'd have went after him.
 
Say what you will about Kiffin. Dude knows QBs (Dart, Chambliss, Simmons. When it looked like Leavitt was coming here he pivoted to Longstreet. I think we need to do the same.

Dereon is actually mid af. Tiny 3 star that struggles with accuracy and passes get knocked down. He would be a reincarnation of a shorter Blackmon for FSU. Dude is cheeks, Vernell Brown merchant

So why was he recruited and signed? You make it seem like Dereon isn't even a Power 5 level player. Do you think the staff is that clueless?

Riley, too. He was recruiting Longstreet while having Julien Lewis committed then had no problem losing Lewis to Colorado

Sht on Kiffin all you want, but he played this situation exactly right.

He knew Leavitt wasn't a sure thing, so he made sure there were backup plans in place.

Why Miami didn't do the same is beyond me.

Uh, yes. HS QBs suck way more often than not. TVD, Nkosi, Jarren Williams, Marve, Malik Rosier, Bard Kayak. Most of those guys are flaming turds. Nickel maybe could be an ok game manager as a senior, but right now our QB recruiting is not playoff level.
