I'm hoping, for my sake, that being about 20 miles inland from the gulf (I live a mile from the Peace River at the start of Charlotte Harbor) that the interaction it has with the bits of land between me and the gulf slow down the winds a little bit before it reaches my house full on.

I was scheduled to be in west Panama City Beach 4 years ago when it hit.

The only tropical weather I've ever been in was tropical storm Alberto in 1994...also in Panama City Beach. If i recall correctly it was a record rainfall for that area from that storm and i was blocked in the hotel from flood water. I couldn't imagine being in a Cat. 5 .
