how would you guys feel about Cristobal at HC?

For once how about we go with a proven guy that has succeeded.
Not the guy how got fired and we HOPE has learned working next to a successful coach.

Who is realistic that fits that bill?

Golden was viewed as "successful" for his turnaround of Temple.

As I stated earlier in this thread Gary Anderson from Wisconsin would be on my short list. He did a **** of a job at Utah State before taking the Badger coaching gig. Those players from Utah State and Wisconsin play **** hard for him. We all know that the state of Wisconsin doesn't produce many 5 star athletes and we **** well know Utah State wasn't getting any but they competed pretty hard against some of the big boys while he was there. ****, part of the reason he was hired was because they were a missed FG away from beating Wisconsin in Madison three seasons ago.

The best part about that hire is that he would likely bring Dave Aranda with him. VERY aggressive DC who also runs a 3-4, the way it is supposed to be run. We have been recruiting to run that defense for 4 years now so we should have the horses to make it work immediately.

I think you look at somebody who has coached at a smaller program and WS able to compete with the big boys and has since moved on to a bigger school and still had success. I think this guy fits the bill and he probably knows he will never be able to recruit well enough to Wisconsin to win a championship. That is the kind of coach I would go after. That is kind of the path that Urban took as well.

I just don't think you are going to be able to go out and get a top tier head coach from another program to come here.

No, he quit and walked out on us with no notice. Fired by FIU is bad enough but FIU's President approved firing Mario is a loose cannon.
 
The only reason anyone would ever consider Cristobal: 1. Cuban on Cuban Pride. 2.) a Miami guy

We can't waste ANOTHER four years on an unproven.

Then, when these younger guys start winning, other colleges with big checkbooks come calling, or the NFL, and they're gone.

Butch Davis - we can afford.

Like Spurrier, Mike Riley, Lou Holtz, Nick Saban, Bobby Petrino, and others who were really good college coaches, tried the NFL and failed, Butch isn't going to be enticed to go anywhere else. And you can't say that about the young pups.
