Watched a lot of Michigan this year. Family members went there. They played to their strengths (running the ball) and minimized qb weakness. They also ran a lot of reverses and misdirections. Most impressive to me was their ability to convert and create big plays. I can’t remember the last time Miami had such a good staff…

Michigan was simply not beating GA in that Orange Bowl game. I think Canes fans would be a bit more comfortable with less of a beat down by Georgia, but we felt the same way about Utah and Oregon after the Mario hire.

Kirby simply had Georgia tuned up at the right time.

I think a Romancane analysis of that Orange Bowl might be in order, as we could run into Georgia at some point.

I would give at a grade of A.
A as in Asian concert piano player, spelling bee champion, MIT CumLaude double PhD astrophysicist/nuclear propulsion specialist who helped nasa land a paper clip on the sun without melting and then brought it back as 18ct gold.

Also A+ by definition.

I speak to a guy named Dave Bartoo. He’s an analytics guru and runs a coaching scouting service. A lot of coaches/ADs use his info. He is a BIG fan of the hires, let’s put it that way. Says it’s easily the best combo in the ACC.
Looking more into your guy Dave Bartoo and it looks like Mario is one of his clients. Here is a tweet from his company posted an hour ago. It references their own tweet from 26 days ago about how their client is close to getting the best pairing of OC + DC in their conference

Seems like he puts an emphasis on the pairing of OC + DC and how their philosophies mesh for maximum benefit to the team.

He's a big Steele fan

I have to know if we officially have an OC, then I will vote.

This ish is ridiculous! In a GREAT way...

Man, almost feel like I wanna cry. Feels like it's not real. You couldn't have told me we would be here with THIS HC, and THIS OC and THIS DC 4 months ago. All we've been asking is for UM to take football seriously, to stop talking it and BE about it. They effing listened, who knew? All it took was a little national embarrassment.

Glad we're here! Good hires by Mario. Part of me is so jaded that I wanna say "I need to see it on the field" but I'm gonna trust this. Broyles Award winners and finalists are Broyles Award winners and finalists...

Go Canes...I can't wait for the fall

Gattis: A+. How else could you possibly grade the reigning Broyles Award winner coming here after a great season at a highly-ranked program? We just drank Michigan's milkshake (phrasing?).

Steele: A-. The only thing keeping this from an A grade is his last season at Auburn, but I'd like to think his previous body of work is a better predictor of his success here.
