How would this be overcome? (Speculation on next two weeks)

For me, it'd make it harder to beat FSU, which could lead to a number of other consequences. Beyond that, there are advantages to opening up the job "officially" and letting the speculation/vetting run rampant. Yes, there are likely financial ramifications of settling out with him prior to the season, but you have to do the Math on whether those cost more than the potential downsides. This shouldn't be personal. Strictly business.
The only problem with firing Manny early is that the the political pressure to target Mario Cristobal for the Succession would begin fairly quickly, and he hasn't even nailed down his Rose Bowl bid yet. The pressure from some of the Bigs in the Cuban Community could become overwhelming to "Bring Mario Home".

My suspicion is that if he's coming to Miami, there's a Gentleman's Agreement to leave him alone up in Eugene until his Oregon business is done with and he's had the chance to either get in the Playoffs or beat a bona fide B1G Opponent in Pasadena on New Year's. We also don't know what Phil Knight will do in response.

This is one reason that I suspect that the Board may have an incentive to leave Manny in place for the time being.

My hope is our current state is impetus for a genuine reset in terms of approach to athletics. Maybe that's a long shot. If it's the case where we actually get a bonafide AD with vision, I'd hope there is a broader search. Some basic due diligence might go a long f'in way for the University and, ultimately, the football program.

If that's true, we're all wasting time with this hobby.
Not necessarily wasting time, but we need to be sober about the go/no go willingness of what appears to be a sustained majority of feckless and amateurish individuals sitting in BoT slots.

Take heart that at some point in the future, Blake James and Manny Diaz will not hold positions at the University of Miami.

Also, we all need to understand that being a Canes fan is akin to being on the guest list for a Marquis de Sade soirée.

Starting the search sooner than later could be beneficial. Assuming they do a search this time.
Don't we want a new AD to do this search? I don't understand why we haven't fired Blake yesterday and started the new AD search to have them evaluate the program and bring in a new head coach.

It does help with recruiting if we can get a big name coach. And it takes time to pull one from a school. It also helps the players on campus who have given up on Diaz.
What big name coach is leaving their current job before the end of the season?

Agreed. I'd imagine it's been decided he won't be back next year. What I'm asking is when the cot**** trigger will be pulled. Really, my issue is I need the "emotional bump" to happen before FSU. We need to beat FSU.
I hate to say it, but I am not sure we will beat FSU

Well, a new coach would have to re-recruit the entire team. That said, you want kids that are loyal to the PROGRAM, not to a coach. Frankly, Miami would be better served by using this time to start making backchannel moves, while letting Manny play out the string. I'd rather Miami fire Manny at the end of the season after going 6-6, and have a new AD and HC already ready to go, than sit here and watch as they fire Manny in 2 weeks, Blake James is still employed and the search is delayed anyway, because no rational person will allow this idiot to make another hire.
Agree, fire Blake now. The results in bball and baseball are enough reason to do so and have a new AD start evaluating the program. The good coaches are going to finish out their current season. An AD can jump any time.

He is fielding Kenny Pickett.

He's also the QB coach @ Pitt too. How does he not deserve credit for Pickett's development & growth, but simultaneously deserve blame for Jacory's career @ MIA?? This makes absolutely no sense.

A few yrs ago, this fanbase gave Joe Brady ALL of the credit for Burrow's season @ LSU. It seems to me the goalpost continues to get moved.

Literally no reason to keep this guy if the writing is on the wall. Get in interim coach appointed and start the search in earnest. Recruit based on the future.

He’s already done. We’re not going undefeated to finish 8-4. At best we’re 6-6. No way we beat NCST or Pitt.

He’s not getting fired tomorrow but he won’t survive. Very possible we go 4-8/5-7. Probably only beat FSU, Duke, and maybe Tech.
Possible wins at this point are FSU, Duke, GT, and VT. No way we win all 4 of those.

Really disappointed that Manny hasn't gotten it done. The Defense is just appallingly bad at this point. His initial Assistant Coaching hires have led to his downfall. They were mostly terrible recruiters and that's why we have nothing now really at DL and LB. TRob has added talent at DB and is a very good recruiter. We have some young talent to work with there.

IMHO, the Admin should let Blake & Manny go mid-season, hire Mario (or another strong candidate well before the end of the season -- even if it goes unannounced publicly for a while) and that will lead to a much better recruiting class. Waiting until after the season will jeopardize this recruiting class (which will set us back even further). Don't procrastinate...save Miami Football!!

How about this to instill some old school Cane toughness:

1) Head Coach: Ray Lewis or Mario
2) Football AD: Alonzo Highsmith
3) OC/QBs: Ken Dorsey
4) WR: Michael Irvin
5) DC (and DBs): Ed Reed
6) DL: Kevin Patrick
7) LB: Michael Barrow (and Ray Lewis)
8) DBs: TRob

Our program would be tough as nails in no time and the recruiting would be off the chain with all that star power. Hiring Ray would take some guts but it would be a boss move.

You got a degree from Miami?

I think Manny lasts until the end of the season. His Dad is juiced in down there. So it won't end up like Golden after Clemson scenario. He'll finish out and then Manny and the University will mutually part ways because "Manny wants what is best for the team".
