How would this be overcome? (Speculation on next two weeks)

Guys, barring TVD turning into Dan Marino, it's not if, but WHEN in regards to Manny getting fired. The things I worry about is whether the BOT does what needs to be done and fires Blake BEFORE Manny. If Blake survives, then there's no point in worrying about Manny. Frankly, I'd be happier keeping Manny, because letting Blake make another hire is just flushing money down the toilet.
I think we all want Blake gone but letting Manny hang around will drive more recruits away and help drive some of our better players into the portal

Ha. I feel it should not matter. UNC's slot WRs could have had 300 yards today if they had their **** together.

I agree with you, but Whipple is a good OC. After he left, this fanbase thought he was trash. He's currently fielding a top 10 Offense @ Pitt.

I think the decision would be made internally at that point but it would not be announced until later to save whatever they can on the buyout. In my mind it won't make a difference though unless Blake is fired and replaced with a competent AD who will demand the power and funding to right this ship. If blake makes the next choice it'll just be rinse and repeat.

Well, a new coach would have to re-recruit the entire team. That said, you want kids that are loyal to the PROGRAM, not to a coach. Frankly, Miami would be better served by using this time to start making backchannel moves, while letting Manny play out the string. I'd rather Miami fire Manny at the end of the season after going 6-6, and have a new AD and HC already ready to go, than sit here and watch as they fire Manny in 2 weeks, Blake James is still employed and the search is delayed anyway, because no rational person will allow this idiot to make another hire.

Over the next two weeks, we play two relatively solid teams. NC State at home and @Pitt (who just rolled VT).

If Manny were to lose those two games, we'd drop to 2-6 on the season, 4 straight losses, and 8 straight P5 losses.

That would have to be it, right?
Yes

If it’s during the season, I’d say after getting knocked out of the Coastal race which could come before FSU. They may let him go there and then a loss there and I think that’s gotta be it - unless they’re determined to let him coach out the year which would be a mistake.

We all want Manny out but what is there to gain by firing him now instead of waiting till the end of the year? Will it help with recruiting or is it just a matter of team morale? Honest question.
Takes away doubt, lets the coaching community know we're in the market for a new coach..

It shouldn’t have to get that far Lu. Since when do we have to get blown out or 8 losses to be the nail in the coffin. Losing by 3 points to a bad team and keeping it close should not be the crumb needed to keep it going at this place. The bar and expectations around here just keep getting lower and lower every year by the leaders of this University. It’s sad.

Earliest would be as soon as Miami gets knocked out of bowl eligibility.

Having said that for whatever reason I'm thinking it doesn't happen until November. He loses to FSU he gets left in tailorhasee.

Perfect timing. These are the best two teams left on our schedule.

Pittsburgh will be the game to do it.

It needs to end. There's no reasonable way to defend or excuse him at this point. If you really believe we're still in it, fire manny and give the interim coach and the team something to play for. Because they know manny is done. Just get it over with.

Accept these Ls that are coming.

I thought Virginia felt like a last gasp - especially after the donked FG...
However, this one feels like a last gap - especially after the late tip drill INT...

idk when this team will quit. But it will quit. Its just too baked into the program. The fact we haven't yet is probably a credit to them...but the quit is coming. Just not sure who really breaks this team.

Couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately, it's our reality. We can pray for a new coach, but I pray things start from scratch - from the highest levels.

Are they close games or blowouts? The last two really could've gone either way and the youth movement will be what he hangs his hat on.

Right now, you've made up your mind one way or another. A few blowouts might sway some, but close games could do the same the other way.

Who holds the power though? That's the question. Those already asking for change or those who are ambivalent or asking for more time? Guess we'll see.

This is why I'm thinking he gets the whole season regardless of how bad it gets.

It all comes down to money. If the buyout is a mil or two less, that's money they'll likely want to save towards the next man up. That is unless someone steps up and says I've got it covered now.

Not if they are close. I'm not yet convinced even in blow outs.
