How to utilize Elijah Lofton

Sit Lofton and get him healthy.
BS. Mario said last year he's one of the best freshmen he's ever seen. Dawson always talks him up. The players talk him up. Nobody who actually goes to practice has ever pushed back because they say the same things. Even the goofy PFF ratings had him as the top true freshman TE.

He's hurt and the tape is rough. We need more at TE right now.
Are we looking at a soft tissue injury that will linger all season?

Not much. He needs to get healthy and right to show he’s not a Greentree All-American.
If healthy enough to be on the field, then incorporate him into the passing game. Stunning to see Beck not targeting TEs.

I like what Lofton brings but if he ain't right makes more sense giving Luka & Schott more reps next week, plus the bye after UF game allows Elijah to hopefully be truly 100% by then.
That's the weird thing if he's hurt why is he playing. Meanwhile Lyle supposed to be healthy for 2 games now but staff won't play him but they throw Lofton out there. Play the freshmen TEs

He hasn’t been great.

I don’t want trash Lyle. Lofton, trader but the freshman are going to pass them for good next year

Health and weight
Seems slow out of breaks and upfield
Considering his lack of blocking skills, hed be best served losing 10-15 pounds and more versatile, than heavier and more inline

If y'all can call Lyle trash. I can say Lofton can't catch worth a **** and doesn't belong as a TE. At least I'm saying still give him a chance on the team. Just at a different position.
They’ve been forcing him the ball all year like Lyle in the running game

Carver and Schott (I know he’s hurt) have not been able to be brought out

Let the best players play and move on…

First time I've ever heard Mario talk openly about the Lofton injuries. I still don't see the same short-area quicks we saw before summer, but hopefully his confidence goes up and he gets past some of the mental hurdles:

"Well, I think he deserves a lot of credit because he has played through some pretty good injuries and nicks and bumps or whatnot that have slowed him down. But he's never complained. He just keeps showing up. And has it hindered him some? It has, but he still keeps coming. When you make a play like that, it can really start the momentum to some bigger and better things. So his approach has never, ever wavered. He is a guy that's very strong-minded. We're counting on for continued high-level play, and I think it's coming his best steps ahead of him, but again. I'm really proud of the guy, because he's fought through a lot, and his future here is really, really bright. So looking forward to more to come.

Is his weight gain by design? Seems like the staff once in a while decides to add weight when maybe they shouldn’t.

He still looks like he got baby fat on him. He needs to take this upcoming off season to reshape his body and get in better shape shape.
