How to utilize Elijah Lofton

It'll be on Beck more than Dawson.

The good news for our TEs: Beck LOVED Bowers. Its who his eyes looked for first. He forced the issue at times with him.

The (maybe) bad news for our TEs: 1 game in, it appears #10 is the shiny object in Beck eyes.

We were told all spring and off-season that Lofton was our most talented player and he was going to be the focal point of the offense. I think the dude had one target the other night. I hope the narrative that he's working back from injury is true because based on what I saw last year he does look very talented. And if we don't utilize him and get him the ball not only would we be making a mistake, but if I was him I wouldn't stick around.

If he's not healthy, then why is he playing?
He's healthy enough, like Trader. Their issue is that they missed time. In spring, both guys were standouts but Beck wasn't throwing yet. I expect both of them to be force-fed to get up to speed.

Dawson was trying to make all the teams that watch film on us like UF and FSU not worry about him then he’ll spring him on them for 200 yds.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it…

It’s just D$
BS. Mario said last year he's one of the best freshmen he's ever seen. Dawson always talks him up. The players talk him up. Nobody who actually goes to practice has ever pushed back because they say the same things. Even the goofy PFF ratings had him as the top true freshman TE.

He's hurt and the tape is rough. We need more at TE right now.

The train is leaving. Sorry for those left behind. And I was expecting highlights from both every game.

I like what Lofton brings but if he ain't right makes more sense giving Luka & Schott more reps next week, plus the bye after UF game allows Elijah to hopefully be truly 100% by then.

What has he done on the field to garner praise?

I have no doubt he is still hurt. The ugly part is we obviously don't trust any of our other TE's yet or he wouldn't be out there. I have said, Bauman is average (in other words) and pretty much a RZ threat, alone. We just completely under utilized Arroyo so their is that. Lofton is a specialty piece to me. Like a B. Smith or C. Johnson didn't fit a power run team, I don't see Lofton being utilized much. I hope I am wrong.
I was getting upset about mainly just using Daniels and Toney before yesterday, then they opened up the playbook more yesterday and involved others more. I hope I am wrong and the TE's get more involved in the next 2 games. D$ hasn't lied on Lofton's talents.
