How many true freshman will start for us this year?

Don't see the issue as necessarily being who starts. The better question is what freshmen get significant PT - or is in the 2-deep?

Another thread critic. Ibis Wang asked the right question. Either answer it, or start your own thread.

Owens was historically bad as a true freshman and got injured in the first quarter of the second game of the season when exactly did he "show out?"

There's no way Homer starts a game this year. No superstars at RB, but plenty of talent back there. Richt will def want him to RS, barring a couple of injuries.

The recruiting pitch to AR15 was that he would be given the opportunity to have "All-ACC Freshman of the year" amount of targets. So although he may or may not start, I expect him to have alot of playing time.

Game one, I think the only sure freshman starter is Shaq. Perhaps Pinckney overtakes him at some point, but I'm still high on DO.

I think Bruce and Richards get significant burn, but I think Berrios starts. I think Bruce is the goods, but I think it'll take some time. You guys are a little bullish on the immediate expectations.

First game, it'll be Shaq starting as a true freshman, and many will get playtime in our first two games.

I dont think Bruce starts over Berrios, but he'll get PT along with Richards.

I think Shaq starts from the first game on. Hopefully no one else though. I don't want too many true freshmen starting. It bodes well for the future but for this season not so much. I'm sure a lot of them will be getting significant burn though. Hopefully a lot of the upper classmen can take the next step with a competent staff in place.

I can't believe there are people who actually think Homer will start.

I like Homer, but that is beyond delusional. Cry and complain all you want, but he will be behind Walton, Yearby, and Edwards.

A wise man once told me that you will have one lost for every freshmen you start... I think Darrion starts and Shaq and Pinkney battles ...If Shaq wins Darrion plays will...If Pinkney wins Darrion plays Mike.. in all honesty I think Darrion should move down to DE... with his speed and at 6'4 257.he has the size...

Finally we have some real battles here in the fall. Bruce is such a talented kid, but Berrios gave us a glimpse in the bowl and then had a great spring. At LB great battles and I see as many as 6 kids in the mix for PT. Loaded with good young LBs, which should also help special teams.

If Owens is healthy, he'll start. Owens was starting to show out before he got injured. Pinckney is good and will be good but I think Owens wins it over him with Shaq and Grace winning the other two spots. I'll go with 1 at the start of the season with Shaq. By mid season, I could see Richards and possibly Bruce if Coley gets hurt again.

Pinkney showed more in one spring than Owens has in 2 years.

Maybe that has to do with the new defensive scheme and real coaching, compared to Fat Al and crew.

Owens has a lot of hype for someone who hasn't done anything for 2 years. Not saying he's not a stud but we're basically crowing him cause he's a workout warrior.

At this point I am going with Shaq. Quarterman, Mike Pinkney and Sam Bruce. Will any other frosh crack the starting lineup?

Ppl love to sleep on berrios. You are all aware the kid hasn't been healthy since he gotten her and now that he is he's been our best/most consistent reciever almost all of spring.

First to answer the original post I will say Shaq will start. He is not only a tremendous player but a natural leader as well if you really follow the game. The battle will be at the WILL. Everyone is talking about DO returning but I have to say that JY will battle as well. Also, I think I don't think Gordinier gets enough credit here. He will absolutely battle for the #2 MIKE position. He may potentially be the best pass rusher of the LB's. This is a much stronger group than people think.
In regards to the WR's, I don't think any freshman start at the beginning of the season BUT one of them will rise to the position at some point during the season.
