How is Butch Davis not in the UMHOF?

Obviously, 4 of those HCs won NCs.

But what about Andy Gustafson...

93-65-3 for a .587 winning percentage.

And Butch?

51-20 for a .718 winning percentage.

Butch deserves to be in the UMSHOF. Clearly.

Gustafson was the AD for a bit too right? Did he do anything big there?

I think in football he created the belly option...Not sure where I read that but thats another pretty big notch.

Lol at Lied to the trustees....Stop the untruthfulness. He was 100% vindicated by the NCAA and UNC at UNC...And please enlighten me about unethical behavior at FIU, which is more BS....

Just the way I see it. I respect your take, but it wont change my mind. Thankfully, other folks hold the power to induct him. I would contact them, instead of wasting your time on me. I'm nobody. I just like PB&J sandwiches.

"And all together: So what? At what point does the context outweigh the action? Here is Buck Ortega, quarterback at Miami Gulliver High School and a recruit whom Davis visited on Sunday. Interviewed by the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, Ortega quoted Davis as telling him this: "I took this job to be my last one. I'm going to stay until I retire."

"When he finished addressing his players, Davis asked if any of them wanted to speak. None did. None rose to embrace the coach or shake his hand. "Jaws dropping, eyes bugging out," is the way McKinnie recalls the scene. "Total shock." Davis walked toward the door, where Shockey, who had arrived late, was standing. "He looked at me and gave me a little nod, and I nodded back," says Shockey. "Then he just bowed his head, and he was gone." In his absence the players met alone, many of them rising in anger at Davis. "People were real mad," said McKinnie. "Especially the young guys who have three, four years left. He told us he would be here."

there is only one reason he isn't in there, and it is personal, very personal.

As an aside, it would be interesting to know if Butch was ever considered for the "GM" position held by Alonzo now. I like Alonzo being here, but his experience is at the pro level. Would it have been better to take a flyer on a guy like Butch who is extremely familiar with recruiting at the collegiate level and has the receipts to prove it?

Unsure he belongs in the UMHOF. He lied to the trustees at the time, left us in a very tough spot, and then was involved in some highly questionable unethical behavior at FIU and UNC.

No, he didn't lie. He was staying.

UM delayed and delayed his contract - planning on holding out long enough he'd have to forego the new contract he thought was done and done.

UM cheapness.

Let's just put it where it belongs.

Probably because he wasn’t a very good football coach.

When UM adds a recruiting Hall of Fame he can be the first inductee.

Not worth a ****. Only recruited the best college team in history - after doing what only Schellenberger did - bring the program out of the ashes.

That's a remarkable thing - takes a really good coach to do something like that.

And once he started winning big - UM jacked around trying to run out the contract clock.

He told the school multiple times he was going to sign, all while negotiating with Cleveland to bolt.

I know that to be a fact.

You know how I knew Butch was about to go into corch mode ? In the Miami sun his red face and freckles would intensify dramatically aligning perfectly with his ******** puckering up , to the point it looked like a granny kissing a grand child on the cheek.
