He actually was a talented player who had a bright future ahead of him until he tore his ACL. He never fully recovered. He could have been playing tackle next to Sapp.
He wasn't even close to better than Patrick Riley. The 1994 defense was not the same when Riley was lost for the season, and nothing was more apparent than the 1995 Orange Bowl game. Sapp was a man among boys but they kept double teaming him until he worn down. They didn't respect our other tackles. With Riley Nebraska would have had to account for him. Patrick was a very good college tackle.
I remember Riley, he was very good. Despite his injury, he was good enough to be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round by the Browns? Or maybe the Chiefs. I know Bennett was drafted in the 3rd by KC and had some pretty good years in that offense.
