How good is Akheem Mesidor?

I dont think age and injury history will be a factor as much as his measurables in knocking him down the draft board. Lets be real if he was a legit 6"5 with longer arms he wouldn't fall pass the 3rd round age and injury history be damned. Tyler Baron got put in the dog house last year while playing on the worse Canes defense ive ever seen and still was a 5th round draft pick because of measurables.

3rd-4th rounder with his age and injury issues. Plus his measurables like his short arms may drop him.

Day 3 imo. Good production but he doesn’t have the twitch and athleticism to be drafted top 100. Hes active and has good pass rush moves + position versatility. But when OL get their hands on him they can stop his rush. Also gives up the edge with some of his aggression. Doesn’t mean he won’t be a good edge in the NFL, just a different game

Elite pass rusher

Not as good against the run

There should be a role for him in the nfl with the way he rushes the passer he is ELITE

Really will come down to the medicals for him. If those clear could see late 2nd round.

He is elite and we are lucky to have him, but he is an older, more mature, and polished player playing vs. younger competition. I would think he projects as a solid, rotational pro who could start many games if needed.

I can see day 2 pick as teams might not see some huge ceiling but he’s gonna be an ultra solid DE who will stick around for years.

Way too early to project him. It’s only been 5 games. Hes got maybe 7-10 more games of film to go. A kid like this you can’t project yet. A lot can happen. I’ll say this..if he keeps up this pace going into the CFP…it will be hard for a team to pass on him going into the 3rd round.

In this new era of college football..age will start being less and less of a factor. Unless your Jeremiah smith, Rueben Bain or someone of that ilk…most of these kids are going to be 5 year guys coming out. Maybe 6.

The question is how good is he? Not when he will be drafted.

Many of the down sides being mentioned (age injury) speak to a teams risk and draft value. But those characteristics actually don’t say much about how good he is.

I want him to get drafted high for a bunch of reasons but I suspect he might slide for the reasons noted.

However, I think he will outperform that draft position. I think the age experience and maturity give him a chance to be a day 1 starter in the league in the right circumstance.

Whatever happens he has been great for us. Not only has he been right there behind Bain, I would argue that he has been the second best DE we have had in decades behind only Bain.

Some of you should watch how many times Bain is facing 2 or 3 blockers while the others face 1. That is why he is top 5 in most mocks. Mesidor gets knocked around when chipped.

It’s his 6th yeah playing college football. You need more games to project him? I’m gonna say you don’t have a future as a scout 😝

I think he’s playing himself into a solid round draft pick. DE/edge is a premium position in NFL, You stack edge rushers when you can. For that reason alone, should he stay healthy and keep producing the way he has, someone will take a flyer on him way earlier than they should. Good for him and I hope it happens. He has been nothing short of amazing this year. Getting home with 4 is devastating for a QB. Just ask tom Brady against the giants both times.

Someone said he’d make a second contract. I could see that but his health is his key. It was never his ability

He was hurt one year. Played out of position at DT for 2 years. I would argue he only had 2 years of actual DE film being healthy. This season and 2022. It’s no secret in 2022 he balled out and this year it looks to be the same. He’s a unique prospect is all I’m saying.
