How good is Akheem Mesidor?

He'll be 25 at the time of the draft. For that reason alone I would probably guess day 3. Add in the injury history and I'm not seeing a path to be higher than a 4th rounder.

He's got burst, get off, and showcases a motor on film... but not going to test great.

Seems like a Rams/Steelers/49ers type of player.

Not to thread jack, but I’ve been asking myself the last few days:

How much of mesidor’s jump can be attributed to coaching? Been asking myself if we can count on the same type of improvement from a guy like lightfoot if coach JT sticks around.

I didn’t go back to watch mesidor’s film from the past few seasons. I just know he wasn’t what he is now, even if I don’t know why.

Was it scheme last year, with all the stunting? I’m sure that contributed, but I don’t recall mesidor really even flashing the quickness and burst he is showing now. He looks like a different player, but maybe that is my mind playing tricks on me.

Any theories on this?

i have no idea where he'd go and truly i could give three ****es.

but he's been great and he's Exhibit "A" of this program's player development.

2 years ago, until he got hurt, he was our best player.

Probably a Day 3 guy because of age and perceived ceiling, but I wish him the very best he can get.

Most of all, I wish him health this season.

We just had a discussion on the show about it. I’m hearing some Day 2 buzz. Age and injury history will be a factor but his film is as good as anybody in the country. Great person, too.

So how good is he?
He has some issues with tackles once they get their hands on him. He can get roughed up. That’s the biggest difference with him and Bain. Bain can win with purely overpowering guys. As long as AM gets a good jump he’s fine. Imo at best he’s a late 3 early 4 because he’s 25 , an injury history and not being the most strong guy.

Top five defense end in the whole country, as a matter of fact, I would say top three. He’s that freaking good! He doesn’t get nearly enough love mainly due to who’s on the other side of the line from him, but the guy is a complete stud!

Yes and he was responsible for overpursuing quite a bit against FSU. That one big run they had in particular where he was unblocked and tried going over the top of the line to the right and then they ended up running right into the gap he just left… and the other TFL/sack he had Bain was waiting for castellanos and then he over pursued inside and almost let castellanos escape back outside to his side…

He is a very good college player that has elevated to being a great player for the first third of the season. Now as an NFL prospect, he is a day 3 guy, maybe if he surprises at the combine he can sneak into the 4th but doubt it. As stated, I dont think he will test all that well and once that happens the fact that he will be 25 and injury prone will just be accentuated for teams.

Injuries have killed his career production. Unless he kills the combine he will not be drafted before the 5th round needs to have amazing combine numbers to go in the 2th round if not maybe 5th - 7th

I think he’ll make it to a 2nd contract & be a known / respected name in the NFL. My favorite player on D. Age will hurt his draft but not his career.

Depends on how he tests but age will be a factor against him.

Right now, he's a 3rd rounder, imo. I suppose he can get up to a 2nd rounder provided he tests well.

If he runs sub 4.7, that's a good time for him.

Day 3. Doesn’t have the speed, age, injuries, gets roughed up by OL once they get hands on him.

Now there is a chance a GM sees the potential of him being a 4-8Year rotational guy that is affordable with a Chance to start some of the first 4 years.
