This, and the talent and depth is the best it's been in years. Add Mark Richt calling plays, the O scoring, keeping the D off the field... We might shock some people this year.
Just having Kool on staff makes this a better defense..

DL should improvejust from scheme, let alone the estimated coaching upgrade via Kool...

Could the OL fall any farther in performance than last year? I feel this unit might show little improvement amd again be a major deficiency for the Canes...

lol these dudes got Donofrio on the brain.

Coach Kool is arguably the best dline coach in the country. We have elite talent at every position on the dline. AQM is one of the best DEs in the country, speed and beast combined. DT is loaded as well for the 1st time in years. No wait and see needed.... im just doing the math, the dline will be one of the best in the country, thats automatic.

coaching and scheme made an obvious weakness into a strength with the DL. I think the OL will be ok, not great, but servicable

We dont have elite talent at dt. Aqm hasnt proven to be one of the best DEs so thats pure opinion. Dt isnt loaded. Willis, mcintosh, norton, jenkins and moten and thats all. None of those guys would start at dt for clemson or ohio st, uf, fsu, bama, and etc.

Still worried about the DL since they're going to have to be dominant with the lack of experience at the linebacker spot. As another mentioned, defensive tackle is a real concern, the ends should do alright if the tackles can at least hold their ground.

The offensive line, I actually think we'll see significant improvement there. The main reason for that is Kehoe is gone. Then you add in another year of work for the TE's, which Right will feature prominently. I think we have average backs, but they're good enough for moving the chains. The biggest question mark to making it all go will be the wide receivers. We need some questions answered there and if they aren't answered, none of the rest will matter.

Agreed. People throw around the word elite when describing a player way too often. Our line was no where near good enough last year to even think of them as elite.

If Dline does not improve a lot, we are in trouble. I expect it to be much better with Kool since he seems to lean toward letting the big dogs hunt. Big questions about Oline but hopefully improved defense will give us more 3 and outs and turnovers. That should lead to the opposing defense to be more tired.

We'll see a better DL this season guaranteed, but many players are very unproven.

AQM is probably the best DLmen. Outside of him and Norton it's a guessing game. Chad could be All Am if he focused on ball as much as his rap career. Jenkins is decent. Moten hasn't shown much. Willis has a ton of hype but he was second team in the spring. Djackson hasn't sniffed the field in 2 years. We'll see. Hopefully Kool can work some magic.

IIRC, Willis was playing for UF as a freshman.

At de not dt. He was about 255 as a freshman.

I'll reiterate what's been said about coach Kool. I don't think his hire can be understated honestly. He's the best in the business. He's made 2 and 3 star players all-conference and all-American players at Mizzou. He's gotten less talented guys drafted than what we have on our roster.

Just look at our DL. We have several 4 and 5 star players on the DL. Coach Kool has only had one player rated 4 stars or above and that's Sheldon Richardson and he's still gotten amazing results.

For the OL, I think the subtraction of Kehoe will be huge. But even bigger than Kehoe out, is a better play caller in. Our offense was very predictable last season. If the defense knows what you're about to do, it's harder to block them. We're not very talented on the OL, but we have serviceable players that should look better than they did last season.

Defensive line will be fine but I'm worried about how we'll perform against good running teams. Well timed screens as well if we're going super aggressive.

Offensive line it can't get much worse. They almost got Kaaya killed last year, any improvement will be a major one. Offensive line has to clean up penalties as well.

Yep. The pass rush looked better in the spring but they still didnt look all that good vs the run. And thats going up against a average at best o-line.
