Both are small schools in Texas, a breeding ground for recruits.

They may not have 5 stars like A&M, UT, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma who recruits HEAVY in Texas.

TCU and Baylor were once nobodies in the state of Texas.

COACHING MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!

Coaches do make a huge difference but both of theses small schools have been wining some of these recruiting wars over their big state brothers recently.

Why? Because their admins and alumni are committed to football. Look at the facility upgrades that both schools have brought to their local campuses. They have pride in their football programs and it shows.

how many ships they have?

Both of you are correct. The right coach and staff combined with an administration committed to winning will yield yearly top ten results.

Baylor has a brand new stadium and TCU upgraded from the ground up. You know, large state schools with huge alumni bases.... oh wait....

Heard a quote somewhere about Briles and his staff...has had 1 coaching staff change in something like 7 years. Wow.

Just think how much better shape this program would be in if the school had listened to Jimmy Johnson in 07' and hired Gary Patterson like he suggested.

Because these guys are two of the best in the game, especially in there respective specialties. I'm reading Pattersons speech at a nike coaching clinic and it's mind blowing how simple he looks at such complex offenses. The best defenses are just complex enough to handle what a offense can throw at you yet simple enough to not bog down a players thought process and slow them down. Patterson excels in this. Here's the clinic if anyone is interested.

It's the same deal with Briles, dude is a absolute tactician on the offensive side of the ball. Furthermore he understands football theory and how to put into practice, the reasoning behind why the Xs and Os work. By far my favorite coach to study. Here's a article talking about Baylors offense if anyone is interested.

These 2 guys would kill it anywhere, the schools don't have much to do with that imo. They just realized they have elite coaches and are willing to support them.

We would have wanted Patterson fired after 7-6 and 4-8

2001 6-6
2002 10-2
2003 11-2
2004 5-6
2005 11-1
2006 11-2
2007 8-5
2008 11-2
2009 12-1
2010 13-0
2011 11-2
moved to big 12
2012 7-6
2013 4-8
2014 10-1

Lol I know he crushed the mwc, but people here would have absolutely wanted him fired after 7 and 6 and 4 and 8. And if they say they wouldn't they're liars or hypocrites. And for the record, al should be gone after that UVA debacle.

If you think that Gary would have ever had a 4-8 season at Miami in the coastal division just shows that youre not thinking in this thread at all.

Patterson would win 10 games a year in our current situation without breaking much of a sweat. Briles too. I think Patterson would be a better fit, but he's not leaving Dallas.
