How did Manny Diaz get hired?

"reality" .... "logic and basis for this hire" thanks for a really good laugh

Miami had seen its gold standard football program sink into total irrelevance over many years by hiring a series of the WRONG corches. after Mork resigned -- this program absolutely needed an experienced and proven program builder, not a guy that had ZERO experience as a head coach.

Miami not only is paying 3 million a year in salary for an unproven and inexperienced head coach, but had to pay a 4 million buyout to Temple .... and you call that a LOGICAL AND NOT A KNEE JERK HIRE ? ........ Diaz was "hired" without even ONE other candidate being interviewed or likely even considered.... thats not "LOGIC" - thats STUPID

Everything involved with Miami football right now is a clown show that is characterized by incompetence and inexperience.

Miami is 3-3 in the middle of a weak schedule and has shown no major improvement in any area from the beginning of the season.... that says it all.

Thanks for an attempt to make chicken**** look like chickensalad.

Diaz isnt responsible for Shannon or Golden. He IS responsible for the only positives of Miami football in 15 years- the defense in 2017 and 18.

3-3 is 3-3, true ,and so far it hasnt looked good.

You are aware that Diaz WORKED HERE FOR 3 YEARS, RIGHT? Have you considered that the UM actually liked him and didnt feel the need to look elsewhere?

You say we needed " an experienced and proven program builder". NO ****!!! REALLY ????Who EXACTLY was available in your "Fantasy Island of Program Builders"?

Belichek quits NE to come as HC. Nick Saban as D coordinator! Lincoln Riley for OC!!! Bud Foster D line!!!

richt was arguably a proven program builder. He ONLY came here (a) bc he was fired, (b) alma mater ties( c0 how did 2018 go for him as a " builder"?

You are delusional to think this is an elite destination for big name coaches or fast rising coordinators. Its just not. You have to consider that Miami actually WANTED Manny, versus " settled" for Manny.

Nobody in the Miami admin really wanted Manny. They just were left without a lot of choice after Richt told them that hiring Manny was the only way he’d step down without a buyout.

I think Richt’s supposedly ethical departure was anything but ethical.

Well, if we are willing to delve into the world of reality for a brief moment, lets recap:

1, Diaz had successfully coordinated the defense to (a) high levels nationally, (b) handled the only side of the ball that had ANY sort of national buzz; (c) young coach with energy;
2. That we( non insiders ) know of, no big names were available or interested. do you think that Meyer would consider us? Stoops? Gruden( oh ,wait, he took the Raiders job)?.
3. Richt quit DEc 30, 2018; Second signing day was 5 weeks away;
4. We were 7-6 and got embarrassed by Wisconsin 2 days earlier; think there were " big names" lining up to come here?
5The REAL Boss at UM, President Frenk, was/ is a fan. So for all those ripping Blake James for this hire, you have very little understanding of who is in charge at the University.

Now I have ZERO idea who are/ were " up and coming , hot shot coordinators " out there, and obviously a national search committee would have taken its time and vetted a bunch of names. None of us have ANY idea of who would have been eventually hired if not Manny but im pretty sure it would have been a SIMILAR hire- young, successful coordinator with no HC experience.

Not saying this was the right decision- maybe it was and maybe not- but there was logic and basis for this hire, not some knee jerk 5 minute response by the BOT , AD and University President.
No offense, but your arguments make no sense.

Your first point isnt a basis for hiring him. It’s at best a basis for interviewing him and considering him against alternatives. HC is a different job from DC. He has never been a HC before. He was a DC on a failed staff. And he was not a good or focused recruiter.

Your second point is laughable. How would anyone, blake james included, know who was interested 24 hours after pricht quit? That’s why you have a hiring process, and dont make rash decisions. If you know what you are doing.

Your third point is not a reason to hire a coach without a thoughtful process. Coaches impact the long term of the program. NSD comes along each year. Coaches also cost the Institution a fortune.

Your fourth point says nothing. Who could know that without running a process? You’re just making unwarranted excuses for James.

Your 5Th point is absurd. Frenk didn’t say hire him immediately. James had to make a recommendation first.

He got fired as a DC at Texas.

He was supposedly Temple’s 4th choice for the job.

Richt seemingly didn’t take any kind of buyout. (If there was a negotiated buyout, then nothing about it’s been leaked.)

Richt had made the job more attractive with the IPF, higher assistant salaries and decent recruiting until the 2019 fiasco.

he was the blue light special...

Blake ran into him and pepe billete at Wallmart the day manny was supposed to leave. They kept screaming at blake pan con pinga perro no hay pan... Apparently blake took it to heart in the hope he could get a bite.
