How can you blame coaches when theres zero talent?

We had 1 player drafted last year. Jonathan Ford in the 7th Round.

Gus Edwards was 5 years ago.

We've had 2 Day 1 & 2 players the last 4 drafts - Phillips & Rousseau - who both essentially only played 1 year at Miami and never on the same team.

Saying we have no talent is going way too far - but lack of talent is clearly a major issue
My point was fuzzy, I was actually trying to point out we didn't have guys drafted, had like the 20th most production coming back off a 7-5 team. I was pretty emphatic early in the season we just don't have a ton of talent. When I say that however, I'm comparing us to the best in cfb. Rather obvious to all of us how far we are talent wise from a Georgia. Our coaching actually made our guys look worse this year though. People claimed Rambo was going 2nd or 3rd rd. TVD first rounder, etc. The narrative changes all the time. Talent isn't losing against most teams we lose too. It is my belief other teams get guys drafted because they are better coaches and the players get coached up. Here.......I don't think it happens anymore.

Sorry, you‘re still lost, or not willing to read thoroughly. I did not say ”talent is fine b/c of recruiting.” I did however, say that our recruiting rankings were better than some of the teams we lost to, and in this case, MTSU.

STFU? Really…

Say what you may, the adults in the film room and on the practice field, have given up on JW. It is the only way a kid keeps repeating the performance we saw out of him, game after game. What is he, 18-20 years old? How is he not coachable to put up a half decent performance on the field?
Your posts are as ****** as UMs coaching AND talent.

Curious who will have more guys end up in the NFL, including practice squad between this years team, Duke and MTSU

Might want to check out the last draft before spouting that. We got guys in the league that couldn't get burn while they were here. Sure seems like coaching matters to me. Gus Edwards thinks so.
Please. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Clemson has had 40 kids drafted for every Gus Edwards that walked through Miami. Also, what round was Gus Edwards drafted? Case closed. We have horrible talent and even worse depth. Yet you and most on this board think we have 5-10 top 3 draft picks every year. Wake up and smell the roses. Manny left the cupboard bare.

Certainly a lot more than what we have. Who on our roster will be drafted. I can count them on 1 finger.

That says it all. Amen! Yet most on this board think every year we have talent comparable with the top 10 teams in college football. LOL

Will take a couple of years obviously but i cant wait and i am definitely not going to forget whether in my favor or not. But yes, i believe This years’ Miami team will end up with more players in the NFL, whether it be non drafted free agent or practice squad head to head vs MTSU and Duke.

Good coaches don't go 3-7 in our final 10 games with the 2022 allotment of players. We're not on probation. Either the players flatly stopped caring, or we made a gigantic mistake hiring this guy. Or both.

Haha, not at all. I stated very early on this season we lack elite talent. Competing with UGA, Clemson etc is an afterthought, we did have enough talent to win at least 8 games though. You blame the kids, but the coaches bring them in. Very few I can think of that actually got better at Miami over their years. That should disgust every fan. Every family member of a player. The point of bringing Edwards up is the fact our coaches were clueless. If the guy is good enough for the NFL, he certainly should have been good enough to excel for a mediocre Miami team. You can say that is on the kids, I can say our coaches have failed the kids for nearly 20 years now. We have missed on everybody. Every 5 star has been a bust. Law of averages don't even apply with our horrible coaching.

Nick saban would do absolutely nothing with this team. Im confident of it.

The fact that manny diaz, a defensive coach, failed to recruit any lbs is criminal.

We were trotting out ryan ragone. Keontra smith a fat safety. Flag. None of these players even stsrt on an FCS team. Im not exaggerating.

Harvey sucks as well. Hes made like 1 play his entire career here. Total jag.

There is zero talent on this team. Very few players. No depth. You cannot win without depth.

How can you blame josh gattis when the stsrting qb is jake garcia who is downright awful. And a qb in brown who cannot throw a 5 yard slant?

And it all starts upfront. But this is the worst collection if offensive linemen weve ever hadm. Ever. They are all horrible. Every single one of them would not start on another d1 team.

Knighton is nothing more than a 180lb change of pace back. Thats it. Stop trying to make him into something hes not. Parrish is just solid. We have no physical rbs, **** i would love to have cam harris back. We have little chicken running backs.

I did love what i saw from b.smith after the tamu. He must've put a ton of work in after that game. He really came on at the end of the year.

You guys keep blaming coaches when the qbs are high school level and no one is blocking.

Theres no talent on this team plain and simple.

Manny diaz recruiting was the worst in miami history.
Come on Mario you can do better than this, remember Middle Tennessee State and Duke Beat you at home like a step child!

I am seriously tired af of seeing this stupid take everywhere there are Cane fans. This narrative that UM IS SO DEVOID of talent is dumb and false. Just stop it.

Kansas would have beat us by 20+ this year. A team with a first year coach... who hasn't been good or had any talent for, what feels like, ever. They would have spanked us badly.

Yall kill me with these excuses. Anyone who defends Gattis has no clue how football works.

I actually like Mario and I think he'll be successful here before it's all said and done but i wont excuse his 1st year **** ups by throwing the players under the bus.

Especially NOT when I see coaches all over the country doing more with Muuch less.

Mario stunk this year and One bad OC hire has trickled down to heavy criticism of the entire operation.

This continues to be the worst argument made on this topic.

Nope.

10 of these 15 teams are ranked and have performed mostly in line with there recruiting classes. Almost all have played multiple games against teams on this very list, so it skews win-loss record and rankings.

We are the only team on this list with a losing record besides aTm. We both have awful, out of date offenses that suppress our talent and locker room issues.

Auburn plays a murderous schedule and just replaced their coach who was a bad fit. Oklahoma and Florida are both under 1st year coaches. They have issues but are not devoid of talent.

So why are we the only team on this list that “has no talent”? It’s bullshyt the fan base keeps spewing to vent their frustration and coddle terrible coaching.

Our team hasn’t played well. Doesn’t mean we “have no talent”. It just means we haven’t played well for MANY reasons. There are coaches and players who need to be replaced. We need to improve our size, athleticism, and depth. None of that is in question.

Look at our performance from Enos to Lashlee to Gattis. The talent level didn’t change much, but the production certainly did. Talent is not equal to production. I don’t know why this is so hard for people to see.
