With Kaaya manning the ship the next 2 years Gorldon won't be leaving volunteeraly leaving unless it's to another football school (Penn St, SEC country etc) Franchise QB's are hard to come by. Kaaya truly is a program builder. I think Golden knows it and saw it this summer. Goldens seat would be ALOT hotter if we had a 5th year QB playing and a ? in what we have in Kaaya. Think about it. It would be a lot easier to say goodbye (by UM or Golden) with another subpar season with no real glimpse of what we have to come.

Which means we can't waste him. You gotta capitalize when you get a player of that caliber at the most important position on the field. Ive said this before and Ill say it again. Go back to NSD 2012 after we signed Duke, Tracy and the rest of the S Fl kids we got that year, and ask yourself did you think that in those guy's third year we would be 6-3 going into the FSU game? Most would have laughed at that and said no effing way. That was dubbed the class that was gonna bring back the U, and thus far it has been anything but. When you get special talent, you must capitalize on it, even after the last three weeks which have been fun to watch, I still highly count that can or will happen with this staff, and it is up to the University to see that, which per usual it doesn't…...

Which is why it's so critically important that Golden be the right guy for the job. We only get 2-3 more years of Kaaya, and it will all go to waste if Golden doesn't turn into the coach everyone hopes he can be. The most important piece is hopefully here if Kaaya continues to progress....if the rest of the pieces arent in place, especially in terms of staff, it will be a waste and a tremendous shame.
 
Kaaya is good. He's been good. But I'm not ready to call him a "franchise" Qb just yet. He's 6-3 .. He's had his good and not so good moments.

Tons of potential though!
 
You know there was an article that was out a few weeks ago about how a simple change to some coordinators and position coaches is sometime needed instead of getting rid of an entire coaching staff. The article highlighted how the impact of firing RS hurt the program from a recruiting perspective e.g. losing Teddy, Eli, Kelvin Benjamin, and more. Golden is the perfect man for this job and it's a **** shame that only being 1 year removed from the NCAA mess he guided this program through fair weathered fans are ready to get rid of him.

Yall fail to realize that if he goes we lose practically our entire class because key coaches like Ice, Baez, Beard, and Coley will be gone also and all of those coaches are well recognized and influential coaches in the S. Florida area. It didn't take Butch Davis 1 year to get UM back to being a prominent program when he was here....it took him 6 years and he did it with limited scholarships too. James Coley is doing an excellent job in the development of Kaaya who will likely be ACC rookie of the year, Ice has done a fantastic job with further developing Duke and pass blocking skills in addition to Joe and Gus.

Golden is making chess moves while the majority of folks that want him gone are looking for the university to make a checker move.

The thing is, this does not make me feel at all uncomfortable. Kaaya might not get it done on every play, but more often than not I think he can beat the blitz. He is advanced in his recognition skills...he just has to eliminate the 1 or 2 times a game where he throws it up for grabs between people.

I am getting a good vibe for some reason about this game, and I know I shouldn't but **** IT.

If Golden leaves we risk losing Kaaya as well. He's an out of State kid with a redshirt to burn if he wanted to transfer.

Are you kidding me? You're going to blame those 3 loses on him? Coley not allowing Kaaya to really play in the Louisville lost us that game and the Nebraska and GT game was lost because of the scheme. Kaaya has made mistakes no doubt but looking at the record is a joke. He can't play defense either and he's a freshman on top of all of this. A freshman who didn't arrive until what? May....June? So no spring ball, no college offseason workout program. To do what he has done in such a short time is franchise QB stuff. Kaaya has been helped by a great running game lately but he's made the throws when needed. Throws that some seniors don't even make. I hate making this comparison because both are completely different players but we haven't had a QB like this since Dorsey. Dorsey however to me was a game manager who benefited greatly off the talent around him. Yes Kaaya has some talent around him but definitely not Dorsey's.

Disagree. I think if Coley leaves then we might risk losing Kaaya. It's already rare for a player to jump with a coach if he's already impressing at his current school. He seems like the type to honor and stay. I highly doubt Golden has even close to that kind of pull on Kaaya.

That's kind of an oversimplification of it all.

He's making these chess moves now and a lot of people feel it was overdue.

Golden being the perfect man for the job is just smoke you're blowing. He may very well might be, but he hasn't anything yet so the jury is still out.

One year removed from NCAA sanctions had nothing to do with him coaching scared in our losses this season. His recruiting prowess and his gameplan prowess are two separate qualities that both deserve fair criticism.

I find it interesting that you make it seem like the recruiting success under Golden isn't attributed to him but rather than to the assistants. Jaquan Johnson is the one on record saying that Golden was the major factor and getting his commitment. I think you're underselling Golden himself a little bit.

For what it's worth, in the event Golden was fired and Butch was brought back, I'd imagine he would retain the overwhelming majority of the staff. He'd probably scrap the defensive staff save for Hurlie Brown and he'd probably keep the entire offensive staff save for Carroll.

Your opening paragraph is by and large pretty insightful and I'd love to read that article if you have it but I think you're making some generalizations about criticism towards Golden and touting a little too much.

Al Gorlden is the perfect corch to guide Kaaya to 4 consecutive 3-5 loss seasons before Kaaya goes HAM in the NFL.
 
At this point I'm really pulling hard for golden. Hope he figures his **** out next week, hope he continues this momentum and succeeds at a high level.

Or crashes and burns.

but I'm going to lose my mind with four more 9-4 seasons in the ACC. Especially with Kaaya the man-child at the helm.
