Houston already knows

Agree - he'd be better off staying at Houston than go to Maryland, IMO.

Either SEC or big stage program in prep for what he probably intends as his next step: the NFL.

Which is why Miami or USCw are the best choices for him. Come in, win big for 3-5 years and jump to the NFL.

He won't be a good NFL coach. We're seeing the whole spread option craze slowing down. You can sprinkle into your offense but you can't run an offense based on the spread.

The best coaches coach beyond systems and adjust to changing times. If he's as good as everyone claims - and I can't confirm or deny that because I've never talked to the guy and have no idea what his plan/approach would be - he'll adjust accordingly. If not, he is what he is. He seems like the type to be a grower/learner.

It will be the final nail in this program's coffin when we save Texas' *** by ending their Charlie Strong nightmare if we take him off their hands, allowing them to throw a blank check at Herman to save their program.

It's an embarrassment that our administration cares more about perceived South Florida recruiting ties than on-field results and coaching prowess.

I'm of the opinion that Strong deserves to be retained by Texas.......................until we hire a coach. Then, I don't give a ****.

If his ultimate goal is the NFL, then Miami is a great place for him. He can win huge here, and the lack of real fan support will be a non-factor.

I like it. I'd hire him in a heart beat.

Who's had a better success rate of putting HCs in the NFL? Miami, Maryland, South Carolina, or Missouri? Miami's probably put more HCs in the NFL than all those programs combined.

mizzou, maryland, USCe

all awful choices for a meteoric superstar in the making

weaker recruiting areas in tough conferences

I agree with this. I'm obviously biased, but Miami is a much better launching point for whatever Herman thinks is next than any of those programs. Successful coaches at Miami end up in the NFL.

Yeah but MD is a middle of the road program in the big 10...money or not

And Missouri and South Carolina are middle of the road SEC teams.

If he wants to win NCs he'll find his way to UM.

If he's such a hot **** coach, he can win at Mo or SC.

And be in the SEC, where he can more quickly parlay that into an NFL gig.

He doesn't have to come to UM.

And oddly, only UM fans have discussed him coming here - when there are likely a half-dozen teams - including TEXAS - that may be wanting to hire him.

A middle of the road ACC team? Odd logic.

We're worse than middle of the road right now. But you know **** well what a real HC can do here. It's been proven repeatedly over the last 30 years.

On the other hand, Mizzou had one of the best HCs in college football and peaked at winning its conference and getting blown out in the SEC title game a couple times. South Carolina had another HOF HC, and they couldn't even win the SEC once in 10 years.

So in your world Missouri and South Carolina are a better road to an NFL gig than UM? History says that's fallacy.

I'm just stirring the pot. Regardless, I'm fully convinced we will hire the worst possible candidate available. (Wario)

South Carolina would be perfect for Herman.

If he's as good as most claim, then what he's doing at Houston, he could do at SCe. Or even Missouri.

Think Maryland has a brighter future than we do with all that Under Armour money. It's going to take a while for them to build that program, but at least they have an on-campus stadium.

Our record and play over the past 15 suggest we are just mediocre. Our potential has been wasted away for the past 15 yrs.

Haven't heard the Herman/Mario combo mentioned.

There is a connection through Todd Orlando. Watch out for that.

Major Appelwhite takes over at Houston and Herman to Miami with Todd Orlando.

It's really simple. If Herman wants to win big and have a shot at the NFL, he'll land at Southern Cal or Miami. If he cares about stability, a college atmosphere and facilities, he'll end up at Mizzou or USCe. I think he's the type who cares about winning big.

He cares about atmosphere too. He was ****ed that more fans haven't been coming to the games.

If you build it they will come. He's smart enough to know that a winner sells in Miami.
