That's cool, and yes.... nothing is really secret. But there are a lot of advantages can be gained from early procurement of film. That other explanation is correct and very solid.... but I'm telling you, coaches don't like their film out there for the masses, especially when you have a whole season to play. Even if the game has already been played, you don't want upcoming opponents on your schedule getting a jump on their preparation. Preparation is EVERYTHING in the world of coaching. We will **** near do anything to try to get a leg up on the competition. Quick story.... My last State Championship run, we actually looked at film from a year or 2 earlier, trying to see if they ran their offense the same way.... everything was goin as planned, when lo and behold, we seen a fake punt that they had ran in a late season non region game. It was a "rooskie" type play ran out of their punt formation. Think Bobby Bowden, back in the day. The play worked that night for a TD to put them ahead... but they lost anyways. Well, anyways we practiced against it. and yes they actually were trying to do it in the 3rd qtr, of our game out of the same formation....but their outside gunner had lined up wrong, and was trying to get on the LOS when the ball was snapped. We were gonna stop it, anyways....I think.... because we knew their alignment, our defensive alignment, and our kids had also practiced against it. lol. But it was a penalty thrown, before they called a TO, and they then decided to punt the ball. We won that game, went to the next round, and got our *** straight mauled by Greg Reid (Yeah, that guy), and Lowndes Co. But anyways, I've sat in rooms with these people. HS and some P5 college coaches. I'm telling you, you'd think they had some national secret at their disposal. They hate their film getting out early. Them dudes is paranoid as fucc.
