Not one damned similarity.

Butch Davis started losing his 31 scholarships right out of the gate. Golden didn't lose one for three years.

Butch Davis is a real football coach.

Comparing Golden's situation to Butch's? Insanity. Not even remotely similar. Butch navigated us through some of the worst penalties the NCAA has ever handed out short of the death penalty.
 
The only people Golden will prove wrong is Donna, Blake, and the BOT for bringing him back when it is clear to anyone paying attention that he is a failure and a fraud.

SMDH. Butch lost 31 scholarships to Al's 9. It's not even a comparison.

When Butch and his staff were back to full strength, well, the 2000/2001 teams happened.

Al couldn't even win the MAC with the most talented team in the conference.

I would bet money that Butch's 1997 team would beat any of Al's UM teams.

No matter how we try to picture it, it's not going to happen with Golden.
 
If you told me this at the same time last year I would have agreed but that chance passed us after he completely lost his team after the FSU game

So I will just say this is the dumbest sht I've read in a long long time.

This isn't close to Butch. This is far closer to Shannon but even worse than that. Golden took a 7-5 team (Shannon's final season) with the number one recruiting class in country as seniors. He went 6-6 w that team. Now he's 6-6 in year 4 w no sanctions and about 10 kids about to get drafted.

Yes I think Al has a lot of similarities with Butch:

For example Butch was an assistant for 3 championship teams. Al Golden was an assistant for teams that never won their own division.
Butch Davis cut his teeth under a HOF legendary coach. Al Golden cut his teeth under a guy who was run out of NY after one season with the Jets.
Butch Davis was the coordinator for a SuperBowl winning team. Al Golden was a coordinator for a Music City Bowl winner.
Butch Davis had the monumental task of navigating 30 lost scholarships. Al Golden had the monumental task of navigating 9 lost scholarships.

Clearly very similar guys.
 
If butch was here, kirby, tracy, burns, grace, carter, bush, owens, moten, chad, etc all develop into all ACC this team has better talent than coaching
 
The entire premise of this thread is example "A" in regards to some of the stupid *** posters/fans we have in this community.

Other than the fact both men got a banner there is abso-*******-lutely nothing in common between Golden and Butch's situations.

Butch's sanctions were probably worse (at worst a wash)...Butch meanwhile amassed talent....Butch also had a 10 win season and got robbed out of a national title the year before he left.

Al Golden, in his fourth full year....is still losing to the Virginia's, GT's, Pitt's, and Louisville's of the world. Mind you...WE PLAYED A RIDICULOUSLY EASY SCHEDULE. When it's all said and done Golden is going to go down as one of the top 3 worst coaches in the history of the program.

Bomb this ******* thread into oblivion and don't let the OP post for a week out of sheer stupidity.

Golden will never win here....NEVER! Anyone thinking otherwise or still having optimism in this ******* guy should undergo an emergency gonadectomy to eliminate any chances of them passing on their incompetent genes.
 
Golden proving me wrong hasn't even crossed my mind. It's never going to happen, and no sense bringing up hypotheticals. Golden cant take his Temple crew along with Donna and Blake and go F themselves.
