Davis finished ranked 3 seasons with 3 bowl wins before we exploded in 2000. He beat several top 5 teams, and was highly competitive for the most part against teams that were legitimately better than us. Nothing like Golden.
Butch beat good teams, won bowl games, finished ranked, and rarely lost to teams we had more talent than, though he laid some stinkers.

He's done here. He's collecting a paycheck, his guaranteed $$$, and just waiting it out. He has to continue "working" or else he could be found in violation of his contract. Butch also won big games. His team was gutted stunk it up in Cuse and then came out and beat UCLA who was what 2 or 3 at the time? Golden cant and hasnt done this. This shows the difference as Butch could coach/have great coaches, and Golden fails at beating 5-7 teams.

The next 12 months are going to suck.
Here's what happens: 3 months from now slurpers beginning to resurface with reports on why all the recruiting misses don't matter. They will talk about moral victories, freshmen quarter backs, and the virtues of frog style DTs. All rational thinking men with eyes will ignore them. Next will be spring ball. The slurpers will go HAM for jag Walk ons in black jerseys and explain why high school studs are overrated and can't hack it in goldens cerebral scheme. Reports about the D from no pads drills will get all the slurpers mouths moist and ready the summer. The knee pad squad will be in full swing by the summer. They will be going all in and starting freshmen and burning red shirts for no reason. We will all be trolled by slurpers claiming 8-4 shows progress and meets expectation. The negs will flow like champagne on New Years but the slurpers wil continue their propaganda of lowering expectations and excuse making until November when Al continues his annual theme of fall failures by dropping every game that matters.
Finally al will get canned, but it won't be until after all that misery. Expecting anything else is foolish.

Dude you hit the nail on the head. The kak suckers wait a few weeks after the season Finishes then start to resurface. Making up name like mopes and how much bigger and tougher the team will be and this is finally the year. I mean its hard to keep bashing them in the off season for 5-7 months. So they hope people get amnesia. Then the season happens and plays out just like u described it. Then they slowly slither away and prepare for the off season Golden orality. I will remind them of the facts every second when they come with these delusional posts and slurpage. They will never jade another **** into thinking GOLDEN is anything but garbage with their wishful thinking. Nightmare slurpers. Y'all may as well jump into biscayne bay.

You can't compare the two. Never witnessed the Butch-coached teams but just by watching The U part 2 you can tell that he had everyone's respect and they believed in him even when they were losing. Butch was at a crossroads with a high school squad as a roster yet consulted with people to find leaders of men with a limited amount of space and it worked. When Golden does something of equal effect; matter of fact, when he does something at all then compare the two.

1997 6-7 Not bowl eligible

True but only 1 in his first 5 years. That was credited as the turning point for the program at the end of year 4. Golden blew his chance against FSU this year.

In their first 4 years at Miami:
Golden is 0-2 against top 5 teams and 3-8 against ranked teams
Butch was 1-4 against top 5 teams and 5-9 against ranked teams
Had Miami beat FSU this year their records against top 5 and top 25 teams would have been very similar.

Butch lost 24 scholarships over 2 years and got 1 bowl game ban. Don't understate the 3 year investigation under Golden. Miami also self imposed 2 bowl game bans in addition to the 9 scholarship losses imposed by the NCAA.
I understand that Butch lost 24 scholarships but let's not forget that he also inherited a roster in 1995 with: 4 future first round picks: Ray Lewis, Yatil Green, Kenard Lang, Kenny Holmes and a handful of other talented players: Tremain Mack, Marcus Wimberley, Twan Russell, Tony Gaiter, Earl Little, James Burgess, KC Jones, Jammi German, Kerlin Blaise, Danyell Ferguson, Scott Covington, Derrick Ham, Ryan Clement, Carlos Jones, J Ina
With the exception of Ray Lewis he had all of these guys for at least 2 years. Al Golden got the class of 2008 and most them left after his first year along with the 2 best guys from 2009 (Miller, Vernon).
He went from 9-4 to 11-1 in year 6. Yes, he was 9-4 in year 5 and went from 9-3 to 9-4 from years 4-5.
I'm not saying that Golden is anything like Davis, but their track record in the first 4 years really aren't that different. Sure everyone says that Miami turned the corner after the UCLA game at the end of Butch's 4th year, but had Miami held on and beat FSU this year, people would probably be saying the same thing. In hind sight Butch did a great job in rebuilding the program but after 4 years, he didn't look that much better than Golden. The classes that built the championship team in 2001 was primarily 1999 (Dorsey, Buchanon, Carey, Johnson, McKinnie, Portis) and 2000 (Vilma, Williams, Shockey, McDougle, McGahee, Myers) his 5-6 recruiting classes.
