Hope Brown starts tom.

I just kind of wonder what was going on in high school.

I'm very familiar with Lowndes as a program. They're one of the best in the nation.

Historically, they were a running offense, but have incorporated more passing in recent years.

Yes, they can bully other teams with talent, but he still threw the ball in high school.

And, yet, it appears there's no real development (or very little) to Brown's passing game.

He's not the future QB at UM, and it's time for our fans to stop trying to wish it into existence.
Kid came from a run oriented offensive system in high school. The passes he threw in high school were usually RPO's and play action stuff, where he knew EXACTLY where he was going with the ball at all times. He also was facing zone defenses most of the time at Lowndes, because opposing teams were probably scared to play a lot of m2m. Their downhill scheme, the athletes they could put on the field, and a gargantuan QB (Brown) that can really run also, would force you to play zone, so you could keep your eyes on him at all times. He never had to really read coverages in High school. It's going to take him a minute to learn how to play the position in a college offense vs. college defenses and be successful. That's why getting Gattis the fucc up outta here, with the quickness, is of the utmost importance, so he can start learning the new scheme.

Dan Mullen would make Brown an instant classic

Deriq King was an athlete? Became a pretty good quarterback. Not sure why this true freshman, who has been playing the position throughout HS and nothing else cannot develop into a good quarterback at the college level.
There is no such thing as a good QB in this O.

I do agree, he should be able to be coached up and become a solid QB. However, I do not trust this staff with developing a QB. They can ruin a good one, but develop a bad one? Yeah, I don't see it happening.

I get what you are saying but for me, i just hate to write a kid off like that who is a freshman and has not even been given an opportunity to develop.
I understand.

But it's better to just accept it and hit the portal and recruiting harder than ****.

Agree.

But we'd better hit the portal hard regardless.

You cannot depend on Brown's development.

I don't think this is a fair take.

While this may be ultimately the case, he's a true freshman. Way too soon to make any judgments about his game.

On top of that, Gattis ruined TVD. I cringe at the coaching Brown has gotten in his time here thus far.

If you had to bet your life on winning eight games or more in 2024, are you starting Brown?

Is Gattis still the OC? If so, I wouldn't bet winning 8 with Josh Allen!

But in all seriousness, Brown may win a Heisman or ride the pine here. Who knows. What I do know is that predicting anything of his career (good or bad) based on what I've seen thus far under ridiculously awful circumstances is premature.
