Hoops signs overseas PG!

Guy who runs a youth league blog that follows Euro kids, said Lecomte is a lot like Shane, terrific with the pick and roll and creating his shot out of the dribble. He also said that Lecomte had offers from both France and Belgium to play pro ball right away but opted to go to college.

The bottom line is taking this kid doesnt hurt. If Angel Rod gets the waiver this kid is riding the pine and is getting coached by Coach. If he doesn't get the waiver then he can compete with Burnett and Elder for time.

We have few guards and we need him.

Finally please name these local PGs we should be taking over this kid in the 2013 class.

I would say 5' 10". He doesn't look any shorter than Shane Larkin.

Good work fin. I really like this kid, he really controls the game and is great in the pick and roll game and getting to the basket to find open players on the perimeter.

I saw nothing in that one minute video that would lead me to believe that kid is a D1 basketball player. Nothing.

When was the last time you saw a video from a guard with no highlights of their outside shooting? lol

Color me skeptical.

I'm not a scout, so I won't analyze the video, but a few things to note...

1) The kid had offers to play pro ball in Belgium and France, and also had strong interest from Gonzaga, Creighton and Florida State (according to him).
2) He was listed at 5'9" last summer as a 16-year old, and says he is still growing. There's no telling what is or isn't accurate, but one of the main Euro sites/Twitter feeds said he was 6 feet. If the kid says he is 5'11", I'd expect that a 5'11" kid will show up on campus.
3) The results speak pretty well for themselves, regardless of what the video showed. He played 27 minutes per game for Belgium's U18 team and 20 minutes for their U20 team last summer, at 16.
4) Eurobasket gives the kid a 5 out of 5 for potential.

The dudes shot looked fine to me, dude looks like a good player. This is how Gonzaga recruits. I like the European players they play fundamentals.
