Steve walsh said cristobal has learned a ton from saban about how to run a program and etc. Said that's why he took the job at bama.

Walsh did say they need to give butch a look. He said if butch has the energy to turn it around and wants the job they should look at it.

Can we retire "slurpers" until/IF our next coaching hire sucks?

I wish we could my good man. Sadly, Cristobal seems to have a legion of slurpers ready and willing to slurp every drop in public for him.

MAN UP SLURPERS AND SHOW YOUR FACES. GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON WHY THIS GUY SHOULD BE CONSIDERED

All I KNOW, is that Bama fans WANT him to leave.

Look, you never hire position coaches (see SF 49ers)

You hire, coaches, assistant coaches, and co-ordinators only! U know y Cristobal is only 27-47 as a coach? He went from being a TE coach to a head coach. He never had a group of coaches working underneath him as a assistance coach or coordinator. Now he's the o-line coach; he needs to get real coaching experience under a proven coach, first. And that's y no other program is going after him.

If Mario wasn't Cuban not a single person would be interested.

This is a fan base that seems to care more about how their coach looks than if he can actually coach.

THIS! What the **** is Fuente? That's a Spanish name, I believe. Justin 10000 times over Mario if you're thinking like that.

lets fire al golden and hire the exact same guy except that hes Cuban. ******* dopes.

We will get a lot of this

mario.webp

What about Derek Dooley? He spent time under Saban at both LSU and with the Dolphins. I mean, that's the only criteria right? He also had a better winning % than Mario did, and he did it in the SEC, while Mario was in the Sun Belt.

they are trying to say mario said he has learned how to organize under saban. i dont care. bring me butch

Have no problem with Mario. A guy that was named National Recruiter of the Year, spent time under Saban to develop and coaches with energy. Also, would want to be at the school. Not saying he is the best candidate but wouldn't be an awful hire

"Spent time under Saban"

You do realize that actually means nothing. You have no idea if he learned anything and if he did if it would actually make him any better.
It's something that's should not be part of the consideration process.

how does it not mean anything?? its called a coaching tree and we of all people should understand how important that is. in reality nobody knows until he is out there coaching on his own if he learned anything but it certainly is something that is considered.

WINNING is the key here. Coley can recruit too. Maybe UM should hire him per your analysis.

So did Bobby Williams. Ask Michigan State fans how that worked out for them. So did Muschamp. Ask Florida fans how that worked out for them. So did Dooley, ask Tennessee fans how that worked out for them.

Saban has some dead limbs on his coaching tree. Bobby Williams, Derek Dooley, Will Muschamp.

On 560 Zach Kranz (Krantz?) just said, Butch isn't happening, but wouldn't be surprised if Mario did, to which Hochman just said, "Mario would excite me." Kill me.

Like he said Recruiter of the Year, a guy that HS coaches in the area respect and think could do a great job

Knows Miami environement and politics and hes a guy with a big personality which is always appealing

Butch Davis is a much superior recruiter, and the local coaches, INCLUDING Uncle Luke - they all love Butch.

I'm not lobbying for the guy. Just saying you do consider who they worked for. I agree though he isn't the right guy for us. He is the Marco Rubio of coaches.

Does Mario have a 300 page binder too with everything he's supposedly learned from Saban?
