Holgerson to Houston

Isn’t it really a step down? Big12 to AAC??

As usual, spot on.

From a professional stand point, makes me scratch my head.

With that said though, I do believe a winning Cougar program will get more press than the Mountaineers.

Maybe Houston BoT and Dana playing chess?

How ? Great place especially if you have money
I will treat this as an honest question. Houston has an excellent top-end lifestyle. There is lots, and lots of money there. That is why the Earth's best medical care is located there. Kings, Presidents, and Sheiks all go there for care. That has produced a top shelf entertainment environment. You can see nearly any performer there in a great venue. There is an excellent food scene there too. Oh, and there are lots of hot women there too.

One true story to start the new year. I was there for a big charity regatta (the HYC is about 20 miles east on the Gulf coast). They had an auction to raise funds. One item was "Lunch with Missy". The winner could have the wife of this super rich guy out for lunch. Now Missy was not you average milf. She was 35 and looked like Carrie Underwood with big *****. Two dads got into a bidding war and long story short, one paid $25,000 to have her drive up to the guys son's high school in her Lamborghini and march into the cafeteria where she would find the kid, give him a big public wet one, with tongue, and then eat lunch at his side. The two hour auction raised over one million for cancer research. Then the commodore match the money. Yes Houston can be a very fun place.

Yeah but with the 4 team playoff system, it is virtually impossible to get in at Houston. Herman had a hard time and look at UCF, twice. Maybe he wants a change, more money, etc. Just seems like a step down

Houston was #6 in the country not too long ago in first or second playoff format year because they played a good schedule. UCF’s issue is SoS.

That’s what I was thinking. I read he was negotiating an extension and raise, wanted more than WVU was willing to pay. He was OC at Houston at one time. Maybe he thinks success there can lead to a bigger job later. Seemed to work for a number of Houston HCs; Briles, Herman, others.

Holgerson's WVU salary = 3.5 million.

Thinking about it, WVU should be an ACC school and would add to the conference

We’re pretty maxed out. Who would you replace?

Keep in mind, if Holgerson leaves, they will probably return to the irrelevant dumpster they usually are.

I don’t disagree with you, necessarily, but I do think that the recent additions have all been a pretty good fit. It’s not like we’re going to boot Wake or anything like that.

He's a Houston guy who wanted to go back home, to a place he's been keeping a home even while living in Morgantown. He's getting paid well to be at Houston. (I used to live there too and it's not a bad place to live at all.) I agree with the posters who said he's reached his ceiling at West Virginia too. He had some excellent offenses over the years and was competitive with the OU's and UT's of the conference at times, but I don't know that they'll ever really reach that level consistently.

Texas football money. AD, BOT, boosters who want to win and will do what it takes to see that.

Good move.

With Oklahoma and Texas having the coaches they do, he knows 3rd place is the ceiling at WVU for the near future. And he’ll still be battling Iowa State, TCU, Baylor, and Texas Tech for that position.

He also knows UCF has set the table for an undefeated G5 team to make the playoffs, and Houston is right there with UCF as prime programs to fill that spot.

AAC making power moves to spin that G6 argument, too.

Easy choice

ANY sane person who's ever been to West Virginia, knows if it's a choice between living in West Virginia or anywhere else .....ANYWHERE ELSE ALWAYS WINS
