It's really early but after reading positive comments about all 4 LBs as well as Kinsler and Horton, this has the feel of a Michigan type class where they hit on an unbelievable rate of kids. Harbaugh is the gold standard when it comes to evaluation but this class seems to rival his classes. Combine that with Cooper and McCoy the previous year and some of the lineman at Oregon, you're starting to see a pattern.

I agree it’s too early but same time I don’t think it’s wrong to say this class is showing up different than what we are normally used to

There really were no head scratchers or weak links in the class that stood out even the lower ranked guys

It is great to see that we are finally recruiting and landing football players that look the part. There is a change in how the team looks coming off the bus. Buuuut, let's pump the brakes and see if they can live up to their potential (which they seem to have a lot of) before we crown and then ultimately crucify them.

This is why we **** on our players so much. They have not played a single down of a single game in their college careers, and here we are saying, "Look how great these guys are. They're better than the others." It's not just you, OP. We do it every year, and it's also why the backup QB is the best player on every team.

But we can’t start with the “regression” criticisms unless we put them on a pedestal first

Its all gonna look like this eventually:

Give me a break with way too early. The mopes are talking about how our recruiting class is a failure in August, how Mario is going to ruin Miami with a Bro Offense, how no conference wants us, and how we're broke because of Ruiz' financial woes.

All 2022 3 stars are either starting, already flashing or still considered on the right vector:
  • Cooper (1st Team)
  • Colbie Young (WR1)
  • Moten (2nd Team)
  • McCoy (right vector)
  • Jaden Harris (right vector)

2023 3 stars that are showing promise
  • Ajay Allen (2nd Team)
  • Kirk (2nd Team)
  • Spencer (faster than expected, contact seeking)
  • Williams
  • Kinsler (biggest OL recruit, tape looks high 4 star or better)
  • Bobby (was starting at OLB pre-Spring Game)
  • Pulliam
  • Richard

That's a nontrivial percent of 3 stars that are performing on or ahead of schedule relative to any recruit regardless of stars. And there are several like Tinilau, Anthony Campbell and Carver who we just don't know much if anything about yet. Maybe, just maybe, our coaches and staff (especially Zo) know how to evaluate talent and character?

Hit rate on the portal kids this year appears high.. evaluations definitely seem to be a staff strength.
