Hire A Coach

Dec 11th... almost half of 2016 class will be on their Official Visit...and I'm sure I'm not the only parent thinking...maybe wait for the new coach

Seeing as your son's best interest is your top priority, you should be elated that he'll play under Butch Davis, regardless of who offered him that scholarship.
 
If you and every other parent can't wait a couple more weeks then I don't know what to say. Have patience. You still can't sign till feb unless you are an EE. Kids that are jumping now were never gonna sign here.
 
I would think you of all people would want this hire to be right. Also the search done right. A short cut lazy quick hiring won't unite the fanbase. That being said wouldn't bother me at all if they announced Butch tomorrow.
 
Good thing about being such a highly sought after recruit is that if you don't like the new HC you will have all your other options available. Don't panic because you don't need to. Babies and chicks panic. Dudes buck up.

If there are coaches out there that haven't expressed interest, I would have to believe they think they have no shot with him where they are currently employed, or they already have top end backers already on board...

Hard for me to believe that most coaches wouldn't covet having Shaq back up their D-line. More hard to believe would be Butch, Chud, Mario, Hue Jackson, Kirby Smart or any other candidate not salivating at having Shaq on board.

Not true..Zach.. Shaq.. Mike and Jack are all EEs their first day of class is like 58 fays away...

They will hire a coach before the 11th.

If they don't, then it means we are getting Chip Kelly or Chuck Pagano, which would be incredible. Either way, I think things will work out for you!

This is not gonna be a problem. Shaq would be welcomed gladly into any program in the country. But in all fairness, the next coach WILL be inheriting an extremely talent list of young studs that committed to the University of Miami...hopefully not to just a coach. Because they change all the time. You guys are in the right place.

But this decision is too important to rush. It should take however long it takes to get it right.

I agree not to rush... but realistically how many choices are there...I'm guessing about 5...

Even if there are 5, still have to wait until the season is over if we hire a coach from another team.
 
I'm certain that all of these decommits we see due to uncertainty will rush right back after Butch and staff enter into these homes. All he has to do is play the U part 2 and say, "yep, that's me...we're looking to make a U part 3...want in?" Locked and loaded.

He wouldn't have to show up in any homes...
 
Uknow: Has Shaq signed a financial aid agreement with UM? Has he signed one with anyone else? Has any of Shaq's friends signed with UM that you know of?

If you have signed such an agreement with UM, UM must honor the agreement if you come to UM, but the recruit has no obligation (unlike if you sign a NLOI). Ditto if you have signed others. The point being that if you have signed multiple agreements, you can wait to the school starts and pick the one you want (I think 2nd semester starts at UM on 1/11/16). This gives the recruit more time to choose with no fear of losing his spot in the class.

I understand the anxiety due to not knowing who the coach is, but I think there is ample time for any school to name a new coach long before the start of next semester.

I totally understand. But... 58 days is a ways away. We will have a coach well before that. I'm being totally honest- your son and every other EE/ recruit will be able to go anywhere they want even on the 55th day if necessary. Just hang tight because the canes are gonna light up college football once more. 4-6 weeks tops

I imagine this has to be a weird, awkward situation for you guys...but I don't think you have to worry about a coach "inheriting" Shaq and not wanting him. Shaq is an elite athletic talent and would be welcomed pretty much anywhere I would think.

I for one don't blame you for being anxious but I hope for everyone's sake the right hire is made after a thorough vetting process and it will be the beginning of Miami's return to greatness with Shaq leading the way.

I imagine that once something happens you will be among the very first to know...at least I would hope so
