Highsmith to the U?

I think you're mistaken.

We're all speculating about what Alonzo's role could or would be, but judging from his background in the Packers scouting or personnel department, if he is hired as a general manager of sorts and is primarily tasked with finding recruits to fulfill the head coach's vision, why would that encroach on the AD?
This job seems well beneath him if that were the case. After watching the "Chief of Staff" BS, Highsmith is a publicity stunt until proven otherwise for me.

This is what I'm saying. If you can get a top flight AD and they're willingly allowing Alonzo to come in to help, that's a MAJOR win. This is something we need to change top down. This is how you do it.

Yep let the AD take care of the entire athletic dept, day to day ops, fund raising etc.... let Zo focus on the biggest and most logistical sport of all which is the football program

If Highsmith leaves the nfl it will not be for some minor role in the program.
I could definitely see AH leaving the NFL to take a UM job .. initially as Asst. AD .. responsible for aspects of the football program (building a kick *** recruiting department / staff) and basically be the AD in waiting to a Tom Jurich .. who might want to take a job for a 5 year term then retire.
