Highschool football

Dude
It’s not about kids dying from this disease! It’s about community spread! And some kids probably will have health issues related to this disease! Playing a sport where spit and saliva is projected constantly probably isn’t the safest place to be during a airborne pandemic! I love football as much as anybody but for Gods Sake there are more important things happening in the world than a **** Game!
LMAO

Lmao. Athletic kids just spent their entire summers working out together, partying, playing 7on7, select baseball, etc.
I have two kids who played entire travel baseball and basketball seasons all summer long with zero social distancing or masks and I don't know a single kid or parent associated with either team who got sick. Kids are largely asymptomatic with this if they get it at all. This has nothing to do with kids' safety and everything to do with BS politics and goalpost-moving adults.

I'm old enough to remember "2 weeks to flatten the curve" back in March and it's been horrifying to see this bull**** evolve into a few scary segments of society demand everyone else shut down life indefinitely.

*Eight* kids in the entire state of Texas from 10-19 have died of this - six of them had comorbidities. If you're advocating for stealing the senior years from millions of teenagers over that, driving to work must scare the **** out of you.
On Nov 4th the 2 weeks will finally be over.

We've been attending volunteer conditioning for 5 weeks, small school (charter) in Riverview. Daily average 30-35 . No issues. All outside, we moved the weights outside under an outdoor covered court for the short term. We've probably been as careful as we could, no locker rooms, water bottles shared towels included. Not perfect, but it's been working. Temps at the gate, even for nosey parents like me. Kids definitely want to play, it's been good for us on a personal level without question.

Wait. I had some guy on here telling me earlier that Ga. Was in complete Armageddon with the Covid.
Lol. It's funny because my mom, who still lives in Florida, doesn't want me down there. She thinks as soon as I cross the Florida state line, I'm going to be zapped by the Rona and croak instantly because Florida's so bad. I quite literally told her to stop watching the news.

In Maryland high schools are most virtual. Football is canceled. We know that everyone is this thread only cares about football so this comment will probably receive negative feedback. The kids are the problem, it's giving it to their nuclear and blended families that could become problematic. But care on. I'm out of this thread. Yall can enjoy it.
The CIS moral authority has spoken, thank you for educating all of us rubes. Stay safe friend, it's a dangerous world out there.

Georgia's transmission rate is lower than Florida's right now.
I know but that dude and his buddy were adamant with their fear mongering. Even one of the resident dweebs posted the picture of the HS corridor from the other day. These guys with the fake fear are out of control.

That’s an interesting take. I must be confused though... does spit and saliva and contact not happen during hockey? Hockey is playing... basketball players don’t sweat and bang? They are playing.

These kids are more apt to do/get this “community spread” you speak of at BLM marches (which they attended), hanging out with friends/parties, etc.

You’re worried about some community spread for a virus that 99.96% make it through. I’m worried about the livelihood of kids who engage in sports at a young age to make something of themselves. That’s ALL on the cusp of being taken away. And I’m not just talking about football.
Hockey and Basketball are in physical bubbles and those sports don’t carry 70 person rosters and numerous trainers and coaches! Face reality bruh! Those sports aren’t football

I'm on both sides of this.

I have a 17 year old son who has been and is continuing to play travel basketball. my wife and I accept that there is some risk to our son, but we have concluded that the risk in playing is no greater than the risk in attending school, which he will be doing next week. We are fairly liberal people who trust and believe in science, but we also try to moderate science with common sense and reasonable acceptance of risk.

On the other hand, I do think as a country we are still in the midst of a terrible pandemic that will cost if thousands and thousands of lives and we should continue to take every possible reasonable precaution. For example, I'd like to see all middle and high school kids wear masks in school.
But too often this debate has become all (shut everything down), or nothing (no masks, just drink Lysol).

Both views are wrong, IMO
You make too much sense for the majority of Football Junkies on the board! These are same folks that probably Vape Street Perfume in spite of the evidence against it

I know some coaches who are putting together a HS travel team in VA to play 4-6 games. They have games already scheduled and are looking for more.

They have sponsors, HS assistant coaches and a full medical staff, with a great practice facility. They are only taking JRs and SRs.

The people who have been proactive during this problem have found a way to keep living. Kudos to them...

I think it’s a 50 man roster with mostly kids from Northern VA. My understanding is they have both committed and uncommitted kids playing. Some of them are big time players too.

Thus start practice next week unless the sissies in power attempt to shut them down.

They are allowing HS travel lacrosse tournaments to be played so I don’t know why they would shut these kids down.

No county or private school liability here, plus they are signing waivers.

Way to go. Attack the issue with a sensible approach...

If there is a season, no one is forced to play. No one is forced to coach. No one is forced to attend the game.

Knowing this, what is the point of arguing against a season?

This has been my view the entire time. I’ve gone to work everyday and the only part of my life that has changed, is less eating at restaurants, no gym, and no going to bars.

It’s not mine or anybody else’s job to worry about other people’s fears. If you don’t have symptoms you should be living your life.
